Elijah's POV
I woke up for no apparent reason. I guess I just wasn't sleeping that well, even if yesterday was a great day and I went to bed a bit early last night. I was faced with the same situation again. Why does this always happen to me?
"Ugh," I whispered to myself as I went to the edge of my bed. I started thinking about today will be like at school, especially since I'm "the most popular boy in school." I wonder where everyone thought I was. I wonder where my girlfriend thought was. To be honest, I don't know why I'm still dating her. I never really liked her like that. I should break up with her. Wait, that's a bad idea. Then everyone will be asking to go out with me. Well... I mean... I could do it anyways. I should do it. You know what? I will do it. Tomorrow. As soon as I see her.
"Finally, I won't have a girlfriend!" I whisper-shouted.
"What are you doing?" Ethan asked rubbing his eyes while sitting up.
"AH!" I screamed as I covered my mouth.
"Shhh," he giggled. "I just wanted to know why you're up this late."
"I-I really don't know, actually," I responded truthfully while getting off my bed.
"Well what are we gonna do now?" Ethan inquired while I sat down on his bed.
I grabbed his hands, looked at his nails, and said, "Let's paint our nails."
"We don't have any nail polish," he answered. "And we're boys," Ethan laughed.
"We might not have any nail polish, but mom sure does. And who said boys couldn't paint their nails? You cover up your hands most of the time anyways," I smiled.
"Okay, but how are we gonna get into the living room without mom and dad waking up?" Ethan let go of my hands and crossed his arms.
"It's not like they sleep down there," I chuckled. "But I don't know how to even paint nails so... forget that. That was stup-" I said before I got cut off.
"You don't think I know?" Ethan smiled and my eyes widened a bit.
"When did you learn this?" I inquired.
"I watched Ira do it on my nails and then I painted her nails. I also watched some YouTube videos on it."
"Awwww," I gushed, grabbing his hands again. "That's so cute!"
"Shh," Ethan giggled. "What color do you want your nails to be?" he said, looking at my nails.
"I don't even know what colors mom has," I laughed. We're so giggly tonight!
"I don't either, but just pick a color," Ethan told me. "You have nice nails by the way," he said as he looked up from my nails to give me a kiss.
"Well, if we're gonna wear our matching sweaters, then I want my nails to be baby pink."
"Which means I should paint my nails baby blue." Ethan stated. "I think mom has those colors."
"Well, when are we gonna go?" I stated after a minute of silence.
"Let's go down now, I guess," Ethan said as he sat up from his bed.
Ethan's POV
I grabbed Elijah's hand and we started heading down the stairs.
"Do you even know where she put the nail polish?" Elijah asked.
"Yes, I do know, actually," taking Elijah to the couch.
"Do you want to sit down while I go get the nail polish?" I said as we stopped by the couch.
"Sure? Are you gonna be able to find it in the dark by yourself though?" Elijah questioned, still holding my hand.
"Yes, I'll be fine," I assured him. "I'll be right back."
I headed over to the cabinet in the living room and started to search for the baby pink and baby blue nail polish. They were all spread out in a container with no order whatsoever. Since they were all huddled together, I had to pick up each and every one to see what color it was. After for looking for what felt like ten minutes, I finally found the colors and went back over to see Elijah.
"Elijah, I'm back!" I whisper-shouted.
"Hi," Elijah sadly said. "Can we go back up now?"
"Well, yes, I have - are you okay? And I got the nail polish." I asked, sitting next to him on the couch. "As you could obviously tell."
"Yeah," he said. It was very convincing.
"You're lying."
"No I'm not..."
"Elijah, you can't lie to me. I'm, like, the only person who knows you're not okay when you act like this," I stated as I gently took his hand.
"Um, can we talk about while we're doing each other's nails? We don't have time to waste."
"Alright," I said as Elijah started heading up the stairs. I followed with the nail polish.
A/N
I'm soooo sorry you guys had to wait a month or something for this short piece of trash. Marching band is almost over but I do have stuff on the weekend and I won't be at home all day. I will start writing the other chapter tonight so idk it might be out later this week! If you guys wanna tell me what you're gonna be for Halloween that'd be cool :) I'll most likely be a princess because I have this dress and I'll only wear it once so I'll get a few uses out of it. And I'd anyone in the black hearts fandom? I'm not but I was gonna see what it was. Lastly, I was thinking I should do a question every chapter relating to the story, so...Question of the chapter: do/have/would you (ever) paint(ed) your nails?
Answer: I used to paint my nails all the time but now I think they look ugly when a nail chips or something and they don't always match my clothes. I'm also not allowed to have them painted for marching band, and my finger nails are all different sizes.
