Sean decided to hang around for a bit longer to make sure that Owen was absolutely okay. He settled down in a chair by the window and I sat on the edge of the bed next to Owen. His eyes were closed but I couldn't tell if he was sleeping or just resting them.
I was exhausted. I'd had no sleep the night before because I was worried about the two of us. I was very tempted to stretch out next to him but I didn't feel comfortable doing that. Although, there was that one time at my house when I woke up and he was there, right next to me in my bed.
I knew that life with nine boyfriends was going to be confusing. I didn't expect that most of my confusion, heck, all of it, was going to be because of Owen.
I closed my eyes for just a moment and when I opened them, he was staring at me.
"How do you feel?" I asked quietly. "Is the shot working?"
"I feel fine." His speech was a little slurred and his eyes were glassy.
Before I could say anything else, he added, "You are very beautiful." And he flashed me a full blown smile that was positively angelic.
I blinked in surprise.
"Thank you," I said glancing at Sean. He gave me his famous smirk. I didn't know what that was about but I sure found out over the next few minutes.
"Don't you think that she is beautiful, Sean," Owen slurred.
"I absolutely do," said Sean, nodding. "They don't come more beautiful than our Pookie." He leaned forward in the chair, elbows on his knees and face cupped in his hands, grinning at us.
"I like your pink T-shirt." Owen reached out the hand closest to me and stroked my arm through the shirt's long sleeve. "It's very soft." He gave me that smile again, the angelic one.
It was all I could do to keep from closing my eyes and purring as he continued to stroke my arm.
This is what it must feel like to be a cat, I thought.
"That shirt is a lot tighter than what you normally wear, isn't it Pookie?" asked Sean, an appreciative gleam in his eyes
"Gabriel picked it out," I mumbled. I had gotten very used to compliments from the boys, even suggestive ones. But I had never seen this side of Owen and I didn't know what to think.
"Your breasts look bigger," Owen's slur was more pronounced but I could understand every word he said. "Don't you think that she has the most beautiful breasts, Sean?"
"I absolutely do," replied Sean, his eyes zooming in on my chest.
I was beyond blushing. Blushing is pink and cute. I was as red as a cooked lobster.
I finally understood what was going on.
"It's the shot, isn't it," I asked, glaring at Sean. "What was that?"
He dragged his eyes away from my chest.
"It's a narcotic based painkiller," he answered. "Owen doesn't handle them very well but it was necessary. I'll leave some pain pills for later on. He's going to need them but they won't have this kind of affect on him."
I was about to reply when Sean's eyes widened. He opened his mouth to say something, probably to warn me. Because all of a sudden, I felt a hand stroking my breast.
"Beautiful and soft," Owen murmured drowsily.
I froze. If it was just Owen and me, I wouldn't care. But Sean was there, having too much fun at our expense. Owen was under the influence of that shot and I certainly didn't want him to be embarrassed when it wore off. I threw a frantic look at Sean and silently mouthed "DO SOMETHING!"
