owen's family is second generation immigrants from sweden, on his dad's side. his mother is mostly english and mainly taught him what it was like to be an american, while his father and his grandparents who lived with them taught him how to speak in swedish and what it was like to have family with accents. they were different people, his mom and dad, and it was a miracle they lasted as long as they did. his childhood was still pleasant, and he grew up with a sense of culture that lots of kids didn't get. mostly meaning he got to teach kids at school how to swear in swedish. school was his biggest plague growing up, since ADHD and public education never really mixed well, especially when ones grandmother and family didn't understand why their kid was so incredibly hyper and unstoppable. he got in fights a lot, with students and teachers, and never quite learned how to fit in with any of the crowds in school. sometimes he was picked on, for his family or how he acted but he could always get home and find some comfort. unfortunately this comfort was ripped away when he was sixteen, and his parents decided to move them all to another state with the hopes of a new start cleansing their marriage. needless to say it didn't work. and after fully separating owen's senior year, he finally found a nice dark spot to feel bad about his problems. he's improved a little bit as he got used to the divorce and the move, but for a few months he struggled with an ugly bought of depression that didn't seem like it would ever let up. he hopes time an heal him the rest of the way.
