You Are The Only One

(3) Chicken feet

It was thanksgiving night. Teddy's family invited their neighbour to celebrate it together. Mr and Mrs Green with their daughter, Alice and Mr and Mrs Zhou with their son, Dingxiang. Teddy also invited two other friends who were living near by, James and Tang Wei for the dinner.

The house looked so merrily and full with beautiful lights set up by the boys earlier. They had their dinner outside of the house. There was a long wood table with long benches side by side. Teddy and Dingxiang grilled the meat and potatoes on the barbecue set not far from the table.

The parents enjoyed their dinner and drinks pretty well as the boys helped out to serve the food. While they were enjoying the grilled meats suddenly a voice broke out .

"Baby's hand?" Kiara tried to look at the dishes inside the brown pot.

"It's the hands!!" Kiara shouted and she jumped out from the bench as if she saw something scary.

She remembered the horror movie she watched with Teddy last night. It was about the hands chasing the naughty kids.

"Get off from me!" She was hysterically terrified. As her body was quite big, they could not stop her from running away. She nearly bumped the barbecue set but Teddy managed to grab her. Even though Teddy was able to grab her, but a hot skewer fell right on her right feet.

As the pain was too hard for her to bear, she was crying with her mouth wide opened without any sound and could possibly fainted. Teddy picked up her and blew her mouth hard with one blow. Then she coughed and the voice came out. She hugged his brother tightly cover her face while crying. Everybody was standing around them. Mrs Zhao patted her back gently and coaxed her. After a while the pain slowly gone, she stopped crying. She was embarrassed and still covered her face in Teddy's shoulder.

After the situation was quite, then they realized a voice not far from everybody was standing. It was Dingxiang!

He was cried in pain as his right shoulder was burned by the hot charcoal. That charcoal actually was the extra charcoal the one being heated and was gathered on the ground. When he saw Kiara ran toward him, he pushed Kiara . The momentum was strong and his torso was knocked down hard to the ground where the charcoal was placed.

Mrs Zhao almost fainted to see her precious son in that condition. Mr Zhao carried her to the bench and helped her to calm down.

Mr Mori, Teddy's father, lifted Dingxiang on his feet and brought him to the bench.

"Take off your shirt," said Mr Mori as it was an order, Dingxiang took off his shirt.

The blister was quite painful to look at. Mrs Mori came out from the house and passed a blister ointment to her husband. Gently the man applied the ointment. The ointment wasn't leaving the zesty feel but because the wound just new, only God knew the pain he had to bear that night.

"The scar would follow you until you die man!" Suddenly Tang Wei broke the silence.

Teddy shot him with a stare. A dead stare.

Tang Wei gulped his saliva. "I'm just kidding bro..."

"Yeah, this would be my signature!" Said Dingxiang as he tried to get back the mood of the night.

Kiara still with Teddy on his embrace. After Mrs Zhao was alright, they both excused themselves and returned to their house. Mr Green and Mrs Green also excused themselves after the dinner.

"Are you alright Dingxiang?" Alice Green who observed the situation earlier, composed herself to talk to Dingxing. She had brunette and long haired until to her waist. She was one of the popular student at their school. With her beautiful hazel eyes she looked at Dingxiang. They just opposite to each other.

Tang Wei and James pretended not to bother about the two of them. They just sitting there and slowly walk to the kitchen inside. They both were so excited and stalked from the window of kitchen.

"Darned it, Dingxiang! Alice talked to him first!." Tang Wei pressed James' shoulder while the both intensely looking at Dingxiang and Alice.

Alice was older a year than they were. Alice was known as the person who was particularly choosing friends. The entire dinner, Tang Wei and James were secretly observing Alice. Not even a word she uttered but just ate a little and smiled when the parents cracked some lame jokes. All parents left, but she was still around with the boys.

While they were watching Dingxiang and Alice, a voice broke their serenity ambience.

"Why are you two are here?" A monotonic voice broke their eardrums.

"Where is Dingxiang?" Kiara asked them both. She dragged her right leg slowly to get near to them to look at what they were looking at.
