~Your POV~

"So," Kaito began as we walked down the hallway, "explain this 'trip' again?"

I chuckled. "What's so hard to understand? The school is paying for me to take a trip down to the Gulf of Mexico to study a type of fish that's almost extinct for about a week or so."

"You forgot one point."

I gave him a confused look, but then remembered. "Oh yeah, and I get to take any guest I want to."

Kaito then walked a little closer to me. "And whooooooo have you chosen to take?"

I snickered at him. "I see what you're trying to do," I laughed, pushing him away in a playful maner. "You just want a free vacation!"

"Who doesn't?" I rolled my eyes and started walking faster, but he quickly caught back up to me. "Now, who are you really taken?"

I shrugged. "I don't know yet. It'd have to be someone I got along with."

Kaito chuckled a little. "You really have no idea who you're going to take?"

I shook my head. "No. But I gotta figure out soon; someone let it slip to Teruteru and now he won't leave me alone."

The bell then rang and we started parting ways.

"Better figure it out!" Kaito yelled before going off to his class.

Throughout the day, I tried to think of possible people to take with me on the trip, but I couldn't come up with anyone I wanted to have to keep an extra eye on. Sonia would want to go everywhere to visit, Mikan would be a nervous wreck, Kokichi would get into ten different kinds of trouble with the law, and Kaito isn't interested at all in anything that has to do with the ocean.

My thoughts were then pulled back to reality as someone stood in front of my desk. I looked up to see Maki and smiled.

"Hey Maki," I greeted. "I didn't realize we had this class together."

She lightly sighed through her nose. "Yeah. You're way too inveloped in the work to notice anyone else but the teacher."

I gave her a nervous chuckle. "Is that a compliment?" There was some silence after that and I just took it as a yes.

"So, did you need something?" I then asked politely, noticing she wasn't going anywhere.

Maki nodded and placed the worksheet we got 10 minutes ago on my desk. "I literally don't understand anything."

I patted the desk on my left. "Take a seat - we've got all period."

She oblidged and sat down as I started looking over her page.

"The first twelve are wrong," I stated as I flipped the page over.

I saw her give me an annoyed death glare in the corner of my eye. "Do you want to die? That's the whole reason I'm here."

I chuckled again. "I know, just making mental notes."

I began helping her with the front side. She was willing to cooperate but a lot of the time she was a bit stubborn with seeing why her answer was wrong. She would over all see her mistake and change it after I made sure she understood why she was wrong. Once we got to the backside, she took a bit more control and used her knowledge to try and fill out the page best she could. She did quite well on the short answers and I complimented her on it.

"I think that's it," I said, leaning back in my seat. "You think you understand everything?"

"For the most part," Maki admitted with a shrug.

There was some more silence until she spoke again.

"Do you . . . think you could tutor me?"

I looked over at her. She was holding one of her ponytails and had her cheeks puffed.

I smiled at her. "Yeah. Maybe we could do it every Wednesday or so?"

She looked at me now, her face saying she wasn't expecting a yes, but she nodded and grabbed her paper and left to her desk on the other side of the room.

As the days went on, I helped Maki more in class and in return she helped me in my P.E. class cause I wasn't the most athletic person on the planet. We seemed to bond pretty quickly and started talking a lot more out of class.

I waited outside this morning, just wanting some fresh air and felt someone else sit on the bench I was on.

"Hey Kaito," I greeted, giving him a tired smile.

He noticed this smile was different. "Is something wrong?"

I shook my head. "No. Gym just has me worn out." He nodded and then turned himself a little more to face me better.

"You leave for your trip in a week, don't you?"

Those words hit me like a brick. "Oh my God, I totally forgot!" I remembered.

"So . . . still have no one to take?"

I nodded. "I'm not entirely positive, but . . . I kind of have an idea who I wanna take."

Kaito leaned closer. "Who?"

"(yn)," a voice called out. I looked straight to see Maki heading this way. I greeted her.

"What's up?" I asked her.

"I just wanted to make sure the session was still on for today."

I nodded. "Of course. I'll meet you in the library after school, but you don't need to rush."

She nodded and left, giving a quick hello to Kaito as well.

I looked back at Kaito and he smirked.

"Her?" he asked curiously.

I blushed a little but shrugged. "Sure, why not?"
