Trapped

I paced the camp, mumbling to myself,  worried that we may not be able to escape without one of us being caught. Riddick must've sensed my uneasiness, he called me over to sit by the fire pit.

"Calm down, I have an idea. Just hear it out," He said.

I nodded my head for him to continue.

"We can steal a radio and communicate with Johns. Now-" he said before I interrupted him.

"Then what? Get ourselves caught? They can track their equipment." I said.

"If you would let me finish you would've known that it can't be tracked if we take out the locater in the walkie. After we extract the chip in a location far away from our base, we will contact Johns to meet up and while I meet with him, you will steal the ship and place it near the base. Then give me a signal so I can get out of there." he explained.

That's actually not a bad idea, so why not?

"Alright, how are we going to steal a radio?" I asked.

"I have been watching one of the mercs closely, he usually goes into an isolated area right around when the sun rises. You can knock him out and steal the radio then, meet me at the south village entrance," he said.

We went to sleep right at sunset to have enough energy in case of a chase. When we woke up it was still dark so we gathered some reserves and ate it on the way to the station, Tarian followed closely behind me with the node tied to her back. We patiently waited until we saw the merc, Riddick went towards the village and I went to where the mercenary was. I trailed behind him closely and choked him out until he fell unconscious. I laid him gently on the ground and searched for his radio, when I found it I brought it over to our meeting spot. We took out the chip and crushed it, seconds later there was chatter going through the walkie. Sounds of the mercenaries asking where their crewmate was, then the sounds of them panicking when they realized he was knocked out. The chatter abruptly stops and stays silent for a couple of minutes.

"Riddick, I know you have the walkie, did you knock out my guy?" Johns asked through the walkie.

Riddick looked at me before he replied.

"Guilty," Riddick said with a smile.

"Riddick, stop playing games and turn yourself in; you and I both know we got you trapped," Johns said.

"Do you though? Cause the way I see it, I can keep killing your crew until there won't be enough of your men to guard both ships but I don't want to kill unnecessarily so I'll make a deal with you" Riddick said.

"No deals Riddick," Johns said.

"But Johns, you can't turn this down. Honestly, it caters to your interests more than it does mine." Riddick smiled.

"What kind of deal is it?" he hesitated to ask.

"Now come on, we have to talk about it face to face, the village bakery, around lunchtime, no snipers. What do you say?" Riddick explained.

"Fine, you got a deal, better be on time." Johns sighed.

Riddick smashed the radio into pieces.

"How will I retrieve the ship if people are guarding it," I asked.

"There won't be anyone guarding it because they think that it is only me. They know I'll be there and I know he will have all of his crew there for backup," he said.

We had a little time to kill so we decided to walk around the village, I also needed to talk to him about something.

"Riddick?" I asked.
