Warm lake water washing between my feet.
Dark memories pressing against my body with moonlit heat.
Staring into the night's sky forever with no retreat.
Remembering the romance that might not ever repeat.
The kind of escape that felt infinite and raw.
A timeless moment in such simple awe.
Summer night's that are perfect, not one flaw.
Waiting all of winter for these secluded beaches to thaw.
The beginning was cold, then hot; and the end came so very soon.
Still I'll always remember seeing strange eyes that afternoon;
Until that humid day grew into night encouraging the sun to take over the moon.
Waking to a groggy enchantment and the wild call of a loon.
Our mouths were dry, crawling into the air was bliss.
Consuming, breathing, feeling mother nature's kiss.
Slightly tipsy with laughter, there had never been anything better than this.
Mesmerizing smiles creating auras in which I'll continue to miss.
Home was calling our names although we wanted to stay.
Leaving in a disoriented fashion; in some sort of dismay.
The storm had been pleasant until responsibility had come into play.
Although I know this perfect balance of beauty and havoc will present itself another day.Written by: Dayne M. Rohn
