Chapter 5

MACKENZIE ZIEGLER

I woke up to russling coming from near my window as if someone was inside the bushes. I slowly but cautiously put my feet on the ground and grabbed a bat from my closet. I apporoached the window and as it began to open and someone began climbing in I swung the bat, only to feel a strong grip had caught it. 

Johnny: 'Jesus! What are you trying to do murder me!'

Kenzie: 'What are you doing here! If Maddie, Lauren or even Jack see you here we're both dead meat!'

Johnny: 'I just came to, apoligise, for last night. It's never going to happen again and you know that right?'

Kenzie: 'I-I know....you're 3 years older then me and I'm best friends with your little sister. I get it...now please get out...'

Johnny: 'Sure...'

He gave me a sad smile as he snuck out of the window and jumped over the 3 feet gap between the roofs of our house. He climbed back into his window from his roof and closed it shut. I shut my window and blinds quickly before he noticed the few tears streaming down my face. I heard a knock come from my door as it slowly opened to reveal a concerned Madison. 

Maddie: 'Hey Kenz can I- Oh Kenz, what happened?'

She pulled me into a hug as we walked and sat down on the end of my bed. 

Kenzie: 'Nothing. Just hormones and stuff...'

Maddie: 'Mackenzie, are you sure? You know you can talk to me, right?'

Kenzie: 'Yea I'm fine, like I said I'm hormonal now can you leave so I can have a shower?'

Maddie: 'Sure, can I borrow a jumper? Me and Lexi are going out.'

Kenzie: 'Sure.'

She walked into my closet and started going through my jumpers and pulled out the one and only Johnny Orlandos hoodie that he leant me yesterday. 

Maddie: 'What is this? Is this Johnny's?'

Kenzie: 'Well he leant it to me yesterday but I got hot in the middle of the night and changed.'

Maddie: 'Mackenzie! You need to let it go! I'm taking this and giving it to Jack so he can give it back!'

Kenzie: 'Maddie please don't!'

Maddie: 'Kenzie....he'll hurt you...'

Kenzie: 'I know and I don't want to be with him, but I at least want to be able to pretend.'

Maddie: 'Fine but you and him are not allowed to be together!'

Kenzie: 'I know Mads and I wouldn't do that to Lauren..'

Maddie: 'Alright well I'm leaving and don't even think about sneaking him in here!'

Kenzie: 'I won't, I think Lolo is coming over anyway.'

Maddie: 'Well bye and have fun!'

She gave me a hug and walked out of the room as I heard her race down the staircase and out the door, leaving me in the empty house alone. I fell back onto my bed in defeat and just stared at the ceiling till I felt the presence of someone watching me. I opened my window to see Johnny crawling through it once again.
