Wonder.

It is the thing that makes all things curious.

Wonder as to when the next rain will fall,

Wonder at when the birds eggs will hatch.

Wonder was what cause the insects to fly above the waterline of a lake, knowing that they may be eaten by a lurking frog.

Wonder was what attracted a Magpie to spy on the things, which was not there's to look upon.

Wonder was a marvellous but dangerous thing to have within ones possession.

Wonder was the thought that passed through everyone's heads...

Wonder was waiting for the shadow of death to fall upon a being.

Wonder was not knowing what lay ahead.

It can destroy the very thing that someone may love dearly, it may also destroy the most powerful things that nature puts on the front line of their defences. Wonder can be beautiful and painful at the very same time. Wonder was what caused the sunlight to dance through the gaps of the trees, highlighting the path ahead. Wonder made the flowers bow their heads in respect and for mourning.

Wonder was the beginning but also the end...

The Wonder of the forest in all its glory was fading. Fading away from the world, away from life, fading from existence. Still it put on a proud face and continued to light the way. For this kind of light was exquisite in these parts, it only showed to the most worthy of hearts, The Lost.

Although this wasn't a lost traveller, for this traveller knew these woods. It was as if the traveller was returning home and the trees and all the glorious things around it welcomed the person home with warm hearts. The birds sang in greeting recognizing the traveller instantly. Badgers, rabbits and foxes the like came out of their homes and glared upon the traveller. Excitement spiralled across their faces; where had they been? What had they seen? Who had they met along the way? And why had they come back? These thoughts flooded through nature's head filling their imagination with curiosity.

Although the world around was pleased to see the traveller they knew they shouldn't have been. For this traveller although compassionate towards the things around had committed deviant acts towards those of their own kind... The Fairfolk.
