"Sky wake up!" I could heard Aunt Linda's cheery voice call from downstairs. I groaned when I glanced at the clock, it was 5:30 in the morning. I stretched out on my bed before deciding to finally get up, I quickly fixed my bed and headed to the restroom. I finished my morning routine before Aunt Linda would yell for me again.
When I got downstairs Aunt Linda was already waiting for me in the kitchen. "Why are you up so early?" I asked her before sitting down on one of the stools. She was facing away from me in front of the counter by the stove. She seemed to be preparing breakfast, bacon and eggs from the smell of it. "Well I thought that i could take you to my store." "You have a store?" I asked. "Yes I have a store well it's more of a bakery shop, it's small but very productive. So do you wanna come?" Honestly I wasn't really feeling up for it, I hadn't gotten much sleep last night after Toby's visit and waking up early today.
"Aunt Linda I'm not feeling too good, maybe I should just stay home." Her posture stiffened slightly I instantly felt bad so I added "But if it means a lot to you, I'll go. I bet I'll feel better once I eat something." I walked over to the stove and gently pushed her away to go sit on the stool. "Let me help with this, you've done enough for me as it is." "So tell me about this store." I grabbed the ingredients from the cabinets and fridge to make pancakes. I nodded along as I listened to her, she told me about how she came with the idea after a dinner party she had prepared. Her expression showed joy and excitement as she continued, she seemed really proud of her store.
Once we were done with breakfast we hopped into her car and drove. The drive was a bit long but not at all boring, of course with my Aunt Linda there was never a dull moment.I looked out the window and saw a row of stores along the shore. Once we got there I immediately knew which one was hers, it was a bright orange that stuck out like a sore thumb among thee other plain and white stores besides it. Aunt Linda parked and we walked from the board walk to her store, on the front in big blue letters read "Persuasion". Small was abit of an understatement, from a far it kinda looked like that but up close it seemed a lot bigger.
Aunt Linda unlocked the door before stepping in and turning the lights on. My mouth dropped in awe. "So what do you think?" She glanced at my expression as i stood in the doorway. I could see a crease growing between her eyebrows, she seemed uncertain about my reaction. "Are you kidding? This is great, beautiful actually." I finally spoke up smiling as I kept looking around the room.
I was lying, I really did love it. The walls were a purple color, there were small chandeliers on the ceiling around lightbulbs smaking it sort of sparkle on top. Under de chandeliers there were four black round tables with equal chairs, even the floor was amazing. It was a polished light brown, behind the tables was the counter and above the counter there were four other lights in a line. Over the counter therewas a small blackboard that listed the specials for the day all written in Aunt Linda's surprisingly neat handwriting.
The walls were decorated with black flower patterns that didn't seem out of place. There were two huge windows in front where you over look the shore. "It's just wow." I admired without being able to really express how beautiful it was.
Aunt Linda grinned and pulled me in for a tight hug. "Come in then." She chuckled bringing me into the shop. We went in and she showed me where she made all the pastries. By the counter there were cupcakes and different kinds of bread that looked really appetizing. On top of the counter there was a cash register and next to it there was a vase full of flowers that smelled wonderful. Over all the shop gave a home-y feeling, it was cozy and comfortable.
Soon enough the costumers started coming in, I couldn't believe how many people showed up in a matter of a few hours. "Aunt Linda, how can I help?" I offered and she showed me how to work the cash register. The room buzzed with conversation and was soon met with music that Aunt Linda had put on. It was sort of like background music.
