Ten years later....
It was a calm autumn morning in October and I was sitting at the breakfast bar in the kitchen, drinking hot chocolate and contemplating life and feeling gratitude for the peace and the silence of the early morning.
"MOM HAVE YOU SEEN MY STATE PROJECT?" Talia yelled as she ran down the stairs.
Well, nothing lasts forever.
"What state project?" Kendall asked as she retrieved the Lucky Charms from the top shelf of the cabinet.
"The one I have been working on for three weeks and need to present today." Talia said seemingly in a frenzy.
"You're in third grade. I doubt it's that big of a deal." Jace said rolling his eyes. He's rather moody for a ten year old.
After Uriah was thrown in jail for a life sentence, Nolan and I became a bit more serious about our dating and got married after a few months of dating. We then found out that I was pregnant with Kendall and Jace. Two years later I had Talia and then two more years after her I had Lenox.
"MOMMY." Lenox squealed sliding down the banister.
"Yeah baby?" I responded.
"I'm not a baby." Lenox huffed crossing her arms over her chest causing Kendall to double over laughing.
"You'll always be my baby." I said stooping down to pick her up.
"Where's Daddy?" Lenox asked looking around and twirling her brown curls.
I giggled. "He is still upstairs sweet."
"Oh." Lenox said looking down. "Okay."
Nolan came down the stairs and Lenox practically leaped into his arms from mine.
"DADDY!" She screeched making me laugh as I watched Nolan twirl her in the air as he had dove to me on several occasions.
Nolan walked over to me and set Lenox down so he could wrap an arm around me waist as I leaned into his hold.
Nolan pressed a firm kiss on my forehead and I looked up to make eye contact.
"Hi Sweetie." I greeted him.
"Hey Hazel." He replied and kissed my nose making me scrunch it up. "Cute."
I giggled and the kids continued with their school preparations.
"Look at our kiddos." Nolan said watching the kids in amazement. "And to think ten years ago today I was a wild man in the woods."
I shook my head and giggled. "How unfortunate."
"Oh yes." He agreed locking lips with me.
"AH MY VIRGIN EYES." Kendall screeched jokingly.
My brow furrowed. "Where did you learn that word?"
"Health class." She and Jace responded in unison.
I groaned. Oh no.
