Evangeline
Mom flings herself on my bed and laughs when I cringe at my shelves rattling. We arrived extra early so I could set up my room and get used to the campus. I look over into other rooms and see parents assembling beds and hanging posters. Mom has never been like that. She was never meant to have kids, she was the type of person never to be tied down to anything, or anyone. My dad is not here, setting up my room or otherwise. He's never been here and frankly I think mom likes it that way. She has been telling me since I was little that dad left to "pursue his passion" and I imagine him on the road as a rockstar or in some mountain villa painting landscapes. I'm snapped out of my thoughts as one of the records stuck on my wall falls off after mum fiddled with it. I sigh and pull her up off my bad and begin to shoo her out of my room. As I'm pushing her out of my room I glance back into my room and take in the finished product, I'm actually quite happy with it.
Mom and I hop into the elevator and we get out on my cousin Valentina's floor. I walk mom to her room but leaves before Valentina answers her door. Valentina and i never got along and I avoid her as much as possible. I'm walking away when the door opens, it's not Valentina, it's a stunning girl with dark hair and light blonde highlights. I assume she's Val's roommate. The girl ushers my mom into her room and they shuffle out of my sight. My phone starts dinging, it's Chadwick, I told him I'd meet him downstairs. He is furiously texting me when the elevator opens, I text him I'll be down in ten, as I walk into the elevator. My hair falls over my face as I'm typing, getting in my eyes. The elevator stops and I notice the blonde girl riding the elevator with me for the first time. She steps out and I look up, she's looking at me so I smile at her just as the doors close. I get out two floors later and hurry to my room, changing into a white top and some light blue jeans. I meet Chadwick downstairs and his gorgeous blonde hair tickles my cheek as he lifts me up high and squeezes me tight. "I missed you Evy, it was awful without you."
"It's been three weeks Chad, I'm sure you lived."
"I don't feel alive without you". I roll my eyes. Chadwick's parents took him to the Bahamas for three weeks before we started at Questwood. I wasn't accepted here, but Chadwick's parents pulled some strings and got me a partial scholarship. The rest of the tuition was paid off by an anonymous donation. I'm not complaining. Chadwick and I have been dating since year three, he gave me his half eaten lolly ring and we never looked back. Chadwick slowly releases me and his light blue eyes seem to burn into mine. Hand in hand we walk out into the streets lining the campus.-candy cane
