Crystal's POV~
"Quick hide." Tina hissed as Nat shoved me into her closet and Rose hid the circuit panel. Thankfully the mounds of clothing muffled my protests as our moms brought down breakfast.
The smell was amazing but I had to stay hidden. The girls had already started the shower in one of the bathrooms and closed the door making it seem like I was showering and not planning a massive escape.
A few hushed words were shared between the girls and their mothers before they left again leaving the food close to the glass wall. Once they were gone I hopped out of the closet and helped the girls grab the food before the glass wall went back up.
Once the walls were back up Natalia quickly returned to helping me pick out suitable clothes. I was only in shorts and a shirt at the moment but that wouldn't protect me at all with my journey.
"Remember to always remain vigilant." Nat warned. "The Ninth Quadrant is not a nice place."
I nodded already knowing a lot about the territory. The Ninth as many called it was an unpredictable area even for werewolves. Many rivers and landings changed drastically with the chaotic weather conditions. Rivers frozen over one week could thaw weekly if not daily, and vise versa. Such drastic changes often lead to flooding and sinkholes. It was specifically marked off for only rouges because no sane wolf would ever want live there.
"Here try these on, they should be your size." She said as she pushed some clothes into my hands and shooed me toward the bathroom.
I moved quickly not wanting to light her already short fuse. As I closed the door I shut off the shower and then looked at the clothes I was holding. Light grey cargo pants with a black long sleeved v-neck top. I pulled the clothes on and left the bathroom.
When I reentered the room Tina rushed over to me with a hairbrush and started to silently french braid my hair. Even though she was quiet her fingers shook badly, showing how emotional she really was. I guess I was pertty emotional too. I thought as I sat down on the floor and wrapped my arms around my knees.
'It's not like you can not be emotional when you're staring death in the face.' Kai muttered angrily in my head. Suddenly my vision was pulled back into my head. I blinked and was now standing in a lush forest. Kai sat infornt of me looking regal in the shifting lights from the treetop.
"It's been a while." I said plainly.
"Yes it has been little Alpha." Kai's chest rumbled before his chuckle died out. "The last time I was able to bring you here fully was when the Alpha title was passed to you. May he rest safe with the Goddess."
Kai's prayer for my brother really struck me hard. Not only did he lose my brother as his companion, but he also lost his chance at finding his true mate now that he is stuck in my body. I ran forward and hugged him. I was so small compared to him. I was only chest high and my arms didn't even reach half way around him, but I still held on tight.
"Thank you!" I sobbed into his fur. "You have sacrificed so much for me and I wish I could make it up to you!"
Kai started another round of wolfish chuckles as he laid his head on my shoulder and raised one of his paws in a hug. "Oh little Alpha you don't have to make it up to me." He licked my face affectionately. "Let's just make it through this storm in one piece."
"Deal!" I agreed as I was slowly pulled away from Kai. I blinked and I was back in the safe room.
"Crystal...Crystal?" Tina asked as she shook my shoulder.
I placed my hand on her's. "I'm ok." I replied as she went back to finishing my frech braid.
I looked up as Natalia and Daniella walked over to us. Natalia was holding a dark grey windbreaker and a black backpack in one hand as she helped Daniella with her other hand.
"I know it's not much but it's some of the snacks that Paul left in here for me. You need them more than me, and I can always ask for more food since I'll be here." Daniella said as she grabbed the bag from Natalia and handed it to me.
Tina finished up my braid just as I stood up and hugged them both. I pulled Tina into the hug as well.
"Don't forget about me." Rose called as she joined us.
We all laughed and released our tight hug.
"I guess this is goodbye for now." I said, all their faces fell. "Hey I'll be back in a few days." I reminded them.
"You better be." Rose said as she lead me over to the panel as I pulled on the windbreaker and threw on the backpack.
"So how exactly does this work?" I asked sounding sceptical.
"Every safe room is equipped with emergency exit tunnels in case there is an intruder that gets in here, a fire starts, or other hazards. These tunnels lead directly to the surface although they will let you out a distance from the pack house for safety so you are able to make a run for it if there is still a threat. Since this pack house is brand new, the securit system is still inexperienced with real life attacks so it is easy to hack. So I will access the system causing a power surge. During that time you will be able to access the tunnels and escape without anyone knowing." Rose explained.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" I asked all of them.
"It's our best shot, and we'll make sure to keep them as fooled as possible." Tina replied.
"Ok let's do this!"
