Aaron's POV~

"What do you mean he's supposed to be dead?" I asked getting impatient. It pissed me off to no end that this disgusting rouge wanted to play mind games while my mate's life was on the line.

"Crystal killed him nearly two years ago." Brian said solemnly.

That's when it hit me. This Darren is the same man that challenged her Alpha title after her brother died.

"Anna is not gonna like this." The medic, who I still don't know his name, commented.

"Whose Anna?"

"Anna is Jacob's mate, but Darren was her first mate. That is until he cheated on her and got another she wolf pregnant. She rejected him the day she found out." Brian explained.

"He was a pathetic excuse for a mate!" The medic, Jacob, exclaimed. "I'll kill him if he goes anywhere near My Anna!"

"Jacob calm down." Brian ordered leaving no room for argument. "We have guests."

Looking around many wolves were entering the clearing. They looked like shadows with the way they all stalked from the underbrush, their dark fur shedding darkness around them making them look larger. That was until Alpha Kyle stepped forward, his thick black coat glimmering with the colors of the northern auras. He shifted back to human, giving them all a view of the multitude of scars that littered his torso. Protecting a pack this close to rouge territory often leads to many fights over land.

"Alpha Aaron, Gamma Brian, it is good to see you both." Kyle smiled. "I had my pack drive cars as close as they could, so we can get the injured to our hospital quicker."

"Thank you Alpha Kyle, we are in your debt." Brian reached out and shook the older man's hand.

"Don't mention it, this is my way of repaying Alpha Cris after you all came to my pack's rescue after those rouges attacked last winter." Kyle's smile dimmed a bit at the bad memory. "Now let's get to work."

Brian's POV~

With the three packs working together, we quickly got the injured loaded up and on their way to the hospital.

"Alpha?"

I flinched at the title. I didn't deserve it, Crystal did because she proved herself worthy of it.

Pushing my thoughts away, I turned and saw Jacob standing infront of me.

"Please Jacob, you don't need to call me Alpha. Now what do you want to ask?"

"Well, I umm, I..." he sputtered unable to find the right words.

As I looked at him closer his once green eyes were tinted yellow. His wolf was in control.

I laid my hand on his shoulder, causing him to look up at me. "Jacob, thank you for your work today on the field. Many men would have died without you. I know you have fought an uphill battle to prove yourself worthy, not only to the pack, but more importantly to your mate. So go to her, she'll need your support now more than ever."

His mouth dropped open as if he couldn't register what I'd just told him.

"Go home and tell the pack what has happened. Take some warriors with you and get our packs prepared for battle. With both Crys and Blake injured, Shadow pack is starting to fall and everyone at home doesn't know why. They will be weaker and may start to panic because this feeling is just like when we lost Ryan. I know you weren't apart of our pack when Ryan died, but this is the same feeling as back then and they will feel lost. I need you to encourage them to keep fighting."

He nodded stunned. "I would be honored Al..Brian."

"Run quickly to catch up with the cars, make sure they get home safe."

"Yes Sir! But before I leave you need to know something." He looked like he'd seen a ghost.

"First swear on the Moon Goddess that you won't say anything." Jacob was solemn.

"Alright," I responded skeptically, "I Brian Axel Thomas swear on the Moon Goddess."

A bright silver light flashed above us, signifying the severity of the oath i just swore. Jacob leaned in an whispered in my ear.

As soon as he finished he shifted and took off, afraid of my wrath.

As soon as my brain registered what he said, my vision went red.
