Fallon's P.O.V
"Maia?" I asked the figure dancing in front of me.
"Come with me." My sister's voice called out.
"Where?"
"You'll see." She said as she grabbed my hand.
She lead me into the woods outside of our old house. She lead me all the way to Hemlock Grove Cemetery, where she is buried.
"Why are we here?" I asked getting a little scared.
"You'll see." She said again.
I always thought it was weird how smart she was for an eight year old. She had so much common sense and empathy for others. She looked just like me with the same Irish skin and raven hair. And the same bright, ocean blue eyes that gleamed with determination.
"We're here." She said.
I looked in front of me to see nothing but trees. Then I looked down to see an open grave right in front of me. I looked at the headstone in front of me. It read something like:
Fallon Victoria Abshire
May This Beloved Child Of God
Rest In Peace
What the fuck!!! I'm not dead!
"Wha-what is this?" I whispered."Don't worry. Now we can be together again."
"No. Y-you aren't Maia."
"Yes I am."
"No, Maia wouldn't want this for me."
"Get in!" She shouted in a voice that wasn't hers. Her eyes turned to an obsidian black. What's happened to my sweet baby sister? She isn't even human anymore.
I turned to run, but I tripped and fell. I looked at my ankle and there was a dirty hand with long jagged finger nails and rotting flesh, wrapped around my ankle. It pulled me into the grave. I fell to the bottom as it towered over me. It's skin was pale and rotting, it had long, dark, stringy, greasy hair. It's long fingernails had blood caked underneath them. The smell of it is enough to make me vomit.
"Do you know who I am?" She asked with her head down so I couldn't see her face.
She lifted her head and revealed a pale face identical to mine, only it was hard to recognize because of how mutilated it was. Almost like someone had ripped it apart and sewn it back together. She had black blood all around her mouth; almost as if she was coughing it up. And her eyes are an extremely pale blue, almost white.
She cocked her head to the side and smiled.
"Figured it out yet? This is your future. If you want a different one; I need something."
"What?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"I need your skin." She said ominously.
She started walking towards me. And I tried climbing out but I can't. The walls of the grave are too steep.
"HEELLLPPPP!!!" I screamed. No one can hear me. I started crying. Frantically trying to get out.
"You won't even feel it. The adrenaline pulsing through you is almost like an anesthetic."
I felt two strong arms hold me in place. Only they're not arms, they're roots of the oak trees beside the grave. She smiled and brought a bloody finger up to my face.
"Fallon! Fallon! Wake up!"
I flung myself upward with a loud gasp. I felt my face. Good it's still there. I looked to my right and saw the Alpha from earlier. I screamed. Why was I in bed with him!? I ran into the nearest room, which happens to be the bathroom.
As I ran in I locked the door. I gripped the counter and then splashed cold water on my face. I looked to my left and saw a towel. I patted my face dry. I looked up into the mirror, making sure that I don't have any scratch marks.
I stood there shivering. The face from my dreams was now my face. And she smiled into the mirror. I think I'm going to pass out.
I bent over and splashed more cold water on my face. When I looked up again the face was gone. I sat on the floor, trying to get that face out of my mind.
I stood up and I walked out of the bathroom, then Maia came to my mind. It was my fault. It's my fault she died. I broke down on the floor. It's all my fault. I blinked the tears away, refusing to cry. But against my will, a hot tear rolled down my cheek.
"What happened? Are you alright?" He asked me. You could hear clear worry in his voice.
"Maia." I whispered. "It's my fault. It's all my fault."
