Chapter 3 :)

Adiline wiped away her tears as her mother and father entered the foyer.

"Daughter, why did you just leave like that?!" King Anders asked furiously.

Adiline had completely forgotten the day's previous events. It all came crashing through her mind now, which had been focused on Nathaniel all day. Simply Nathaniel's presence made her mind go blank. But now, she remembered the carriage, father trying to control her, stomping out, walking through town, and finding Nathaniel.

"Now honey, don't get too overworked. Remember your high blood pressure," Queen Melissa warned her husband.

Adiline replied with, "I just...I don't know what I was thinking. I'll take whatever my punishment is."

"Well, thank you for being understanding darl-" the King started before being interupted by his daughter.

"On one account, if I can be out in the town every evening," she said in hope of seeing Nathaniel again.

"Fine. But you must be home by 8:00 and have all your chores done by 9:00," her mother said before King Anders could say no.

"Thank you! I promise I will!"

Adiline turned to leave and go to her room when her father stopped her. "Why the sudden interest in your town?" Knowing she didn't have many friends or social skills, she had to think of something quick. But what?!?

"Um...I realised when I was walking through town today that the people are really nice. I need to get closer to them if I want to be Queen someday. Also, the shops caught my eye but don't worry, I won't be like my sisters and spend all my allowance."

"Ok."

Phew, that was close. Adiline had never lied to her parents. EVER. It wasn't a good feeling but she knew father would never accept Nathaniel. She slowly trudged up the stairs to her bedroom.

**~**

The next day, Adiline woke to the sound of the cooks making breakfast. Lilly, her maid, was already in the room, which sometimes made her uncomfortable to have someone in her room while she was asleep. But she knew Lilly was a sweet lady and would never harm her.

She stood up and walked to her outfit for the day. It was a red summer dress that stopped just above the knee with short sleeves and a white ribbon on the waistline. She was happy for the short sleeves because Millernia summers were scorching! Also, she planned on going to town to search for Nathaniel.

She walked downstairs, dressed and ready. She never had bedhead since her long blonde curls always stayed perfectly in place.

Breakfast was being set on the long glass table by the kitchen. "Thank you, Mr. Handing." Adline, unlike her sisters besides Kristine, knew all the cooks and maids by name. Spending most of her time in the castle, she got well aquianted with everyone.

"Your welcome, my dear. Hope you enjoy it." Mr. Handing had a heavy French accent.

Adiline sat down to eat her usual egg whites and waffle. No more than 10 seconds passed before her sister, Kristine, sat down at the table and watched her older sister eat.

"I heard you walked out on yesterday's 'Prince Finder' event," she said in a proud voice. Her hair was still tangled and she was still in her nightgown.

"Yeah, I just couldn't take father and his thoughts of my judgement. You should've heard him! He was being so doughtful of me. Plus, I don't need some rich, snobby prince. Average swordsmen with a handsome face and strong build who's caring and..." Adiline stopped rambling, realising she was describing Nathaniel.

Kristine was looking at her sister with an eyebrow raised, "Hmm, sounds specific, don't cha think?"

Trying to force down her blush, Adline quickly changed the subject. "Um, where are the other little munchkins?"

Kristine gave her a look like 'we're not done here missy' but replied, "Well, Jessie and Becca went with Ember to go shopping. Kendall is either at dance lessons or still sleeping."

Each of their sisters had a special hobby or talent. Adiline liked reading. Kendall like dancing. Jessie and Becca(the twins) were only 4 but liked art, so far. Ember liked music as she sang and played guitar. Kristine liked...well, EVERYTHING but mainly fashion. And all of their sisters, besides Kris and Ali, liked shopping.

You could go through old photo albums and see each of them doing their favorite hobbies.

"I know you don't go to town often but I'm getting some new fabrics for a dress I'm working on. Would you like to come?" Kris asked.

Finishing up her breakfast, Adiline replied, "Sure, but do you mind if we stop by the book shop?" She just had to subtly look for Nathaniel since Kris didn't know about him.

I need to find him again, Ali thought to herself.

"Find who?"

Oh crap! Did I say that out loud?

"Yes you did. Now, who is he?"

I really need to stop speaking my mind.

"Listen missy, who. is. he.? I thought Rosette was in Carlington with her family for the summer, so it's someone you met recently."

"Let's just say I met a new friend," Adiline was seriously panicking now.

"You know what? Fine. I can see you don't want to talk about him. But I'll meet him soon enough when we go to town," Kristine said, "Oh and when you do want to tell me, I promise I won't say anything to mother and father..or even our sisters."

Kristine got up and left the kitchen table, going who knows where. Adiline was having an internal battle with herself, debating whether or not to tell Kris. Her sister sometimes had a big mouth but this time she sounded really sincere. Right now, she needed to vent off to someone. Hiding Nathaniel all to herself was pressuring her to an extreme extent.

She took her plate to the cooks to be washed and walked upstairs to the library. She needed to read awhile until it was time to leave with Kristine to town.

Eventually, she would find her Nathaniel.
