Chapter 5 <3

After Adiline and Kristine left, they heard some scurrying in the Tanson house. Nathaniel had been staring at his mother in a sort of silent conversation. He finally agreed to dinner saying, "Yes, princess. Mother and I would LOVE to go have dinner with the Royal Family."

Adiline kept wondering why he had put extra emphasis on the word 'love'. It almost appeared as if Rorie didn't want to go. Many townsfolk only dreamed of that.

Adiline's sister clearly didn't suspect a thing as she carried on normally...Or she just didn't notice. Kristine was the second smartest sister in the castle, Adiline being first.

"What do you think your doing, Ali? You didn't even ask mom or dad!" Kris panicked. All events in the castle were carefully scheduled and planned out. Even dinner, every night. The King and Queen were the first ones to know, being in charge and all.

"No but I will tell them. If anything, I just have to tell the chefs to add two extra places to the dinner table. Don't worry."

"I think your becoming a bit too confident in yourself."

"And when has that ever been a bad thing?" Adiline hoped to dumbfound her sister into stopping the argument. It didn't work.

"It's not, but there is a difference between being a little outgoing and overly cocky."

"Look, I'm sixteen almost seventeen in a couple months. I will become Queen in a few years. I know my responsibilities and consequences. Now drop it, Kris," Adiline finished with a firm tone.

As the girls entered the castle they went there seperate ways, Kristine to change and Adiline to tell her parents about their guests coming at 6pm tonight. She went up to the doorway that led to the dining room where her parents were eating lunch.

Taking a deep breath, Adiline walked in and greeted her parents.

"Hello dear. Where did you and Kristine run off to today?"

"Hello mother. We went to the bookshop and then a friend of mine's house in town."

"What friend?" King Anders asked, knowing that Lilly lived in the maids' quarters and Rosette was on vacation with her family.

"Well, I was hoping you'd ask that because I invited them over for dinner tonight," Ali answered.

After a short nod from Father, Adiline left. On the outside she looked very confident and proud of herself, but inside she was a nervous wreck. This will be the first time she has dinner with Nathaniel. Also, his mother adds pressure. And, her whole family will probably judge them. She had to prove to her parents that lower-class people were just as good as upper-classmen.

Walking into the kitchen, Adiline greeted the head chef, "Hello Mr. Handing."

"Bonjour Princessa! How may I help you?" He asked.

"I was hoping you could make a bit more food for dinner tonight and prepare two extra sets at the table. I invited some guests over." It didn't seem too difficult a task.

"Why, of course! As long as I get to meet these new friends of yours," He said and it was a deal.

Adiline left the kitchen and used the back stairs to get to the hall that lead to her bedroom. On her way, she passed the library doors. She paused, remembering her and Nathaniel's moment when they stared into each others' eyes.

She went down the rest of the hallway to her room. Pressing the button on the call system, "Lilly, can you come here please?"

Within a few minutes, Lilly was in her room. "Yes, Ali. What do you need dear?"

"I need some help picking out an outfit. Wanna help?" Adiline opened her wardrobe and pulled out some evening gowns.

"Why sure but what's the occasion?"

"I'm having a young man come over and I think I like him alot, maybe even love, but I'm not sure..." Adiline said the truth. She honestly didn't know if she loved Nathaniel or not. They did only recently meet. Adiline most definitely didn't believe in love at first sight. You had to at least know what a person's personality is before loving them. Otherwise, it is only based on looks (but Nathaniel had those too).

"Well, first let me decide if you love him or not," Lilly said and pulled Ali to the bed.

"Lilly, I dream about him every night. How he looked at me on the terrace, how he compared my beauty to the view, how he embraced me before he left..." Adiline spaced out, remembering the previous events.

"Well then we need your BEST dress!" Lilly said with excitement as she walked to the closet.

"So does that mean I love him?"

"Oh sweetie, that means your completely head-over-heels for him!" Lilly was so happy for her, muttering things like "so cute" and "young love" under her breath as she searched.

But now, Adiline was very worried.
