Chapter 7 :D

Adiline was shocked.

Not because her mother and Rorie were becoming close friends. Not because her father was taking so long to get ready. And not because her whole family was late for dinner.

Adiline was shocked because it wasn't her voice she heard, it was Nathaniel's.

"What?" Adiline asked thinking she'd gone mad. This wasn't happening.

Nathaniel looked up, his green eyes gleaming in the light. "I-I'm s-so sorry Adiline. I-I don't think I'm in love with you yet. I've only known you for a few days..not even a week," he stuttered.

Adiline's face fell right away. She looked away to hide the new tears in her eyes. She should've known this would happen. Now he would think she's a silly young teenager. At least she got her feelings out there and not built up in her. Adiline longed so much to hear his voice tell her he loved her. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Not yet, at least. Maybe in time they could grow closer to love.

The silence in the room was disrupted when a voice bursted through the intercom on the wall.

"Ali, Nathan! Dinner time! Come down here ASAP!"

Clearing his throat, Nathaniel said, "Shall I escort you down, Princess?"

Still not looking at him, Adiline took his hand in hers. "Of course."

They climbed off the silk covered bed sheets and made their way to the dining room. Once again, an uncomfortable silence filled the hallway. Adiline's hand barely hung on Nathaniel's arm, as his arm was loose as well. But as they approached the dining room door, Adiline paused.

"Don't tell my parents of what just happened. It's embarassing and my father would be enraged."

Nathaniel put his finger on the edge of her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Do not be embarrassed, Princess. I swear I would never tell."

Adiline started to step toward the dining room but Nathaniel stopped her. "What are you doing?" She asked.

"Um, before dinner I wanted to show you something." Nathaniel said but it seemed he was hiding something.

"But we're already late. Father and Mother are probably getting anxious."

"Don't worry. J-just come on." He stuttered slightly as he lead her to the back door of the castle.

Okay. Now Adiline was getting more scared than worried. Where was he taking her?? They were walking under the starry night sky towards a big willow tree on the hill.

Nathaniel stopped and turned to face Adiline. He leaned closer and Adiline's heart rate picked up.

Instead of kissing her, he PUSHED her! She expected to hit the tree but felt nothing.

She had the strange falling sensation, then everything turned black.
