I do like my job. But, sometimes it gets a bit boring. I have to work every night from 20 to 03 and that feels long since it is until after midnight.
Sometimes there comes interesting people, but other days these 18 year old girls that has just discovered alcohol and get "drunk" after just one small drink.
I am standing behind the bar now. My collegue is in the backroom getting some more drinks for the night. There are a few people here now. Maybe 10 or so, but the night just began. And so did my shift. It is only 20.04.
"Here" my collegue, William says as he puts drinks where they shall be. I sigh and turn around to look at him. His blond hair gets hightlights of blue and red from the lights. "Nice hair" I smile. He chuckles. "Yeah thanks" he smiles too.
"Hope there will be something exciting today"
"Me too, there has been a lot of boring nights" he sighs
A guy sits down on the bar stool infront of me. "can I get a Hunter?" He smiles at me. "sure!" I smile while making his drink. "out alone?" I ask him just to keep him company. It is after all a part of my job to make people have a good time. He nods his head and I hand him the drink.
"I just argued with my girlfriend" Which is one of the reasons people come here to drink! From many years at this bar, I've experienced that.
"Ah, I am sorry about that. It will go over, I can tell" I say feeling sorry for him.
He looks at me before drinking almost all of his drink at one shot.
"Yeah? I hope so... but she was so angry"
"May I ask what you were fighting about?"
"I barely know you!" He chuckles in a friendly way.
I chuckle as well. "Well, I try to be friendly, but if you don't want to talk about it. Its fine" I never push anyone to talk if the don't want to.
"I know girl, and you are very friendly" - "My girlfriend saw me talking a girl that only is a new one from work, and she thinks I am cheating on her blablabla, you know the story"
It happened to me once. My ex-boyfriend now, Steve was talking to a girl and I got jealous. Though later I found out he had cheated on me with her, for real. i broke up with him.
"Hm oh I know. But I can understand your girl anyway, because she is, as I can tell by how she reacted, very in love with you. She just don't want you to flirt with other girls"
He drinks the rest of his drink. "One more?" He asks. I take his glass and pour more into it. "You know, it's a really strong drink" I tell him before giving him the shot glass. "I know, but I can handle it" he smiles.
"Maybe you are right. Its not that I wouldn't get jealous if she were talking to a boy, but I trust her. i wish she trusted me" he says.
I rest my elbows on the counter and look at him. "Then maybe you should tell her that" I give him a wink and smile.
"Maybe you are right miss... ?" He asks for my name.
"Melissa". "And you?" I ask.
"Xavier! " He smiles.
"Nice to mee..." Just as I am finishing my sentence I get blinded and distracted by the mystery of a guy just walking inside.
His white suit and fedora lights up the room. I can not see his face. Just his black perfect curls falling down his face. I feel breathless. And I can't take my eyes off him.
He looks so mysterious.
Who is he?
