A Bit About Me

My name's Leslie Gormley, I'm a 19 year old Irish girl, fresh out of school and waiting for my acceptance letter to beauty school. I live with my dad Larry and his English girlfriend Pam. Pam's a nice lady, she's cool, I love her like my own mother. Pam always says I'm the spitting image of my dad, I have his eyes and hair color, my hair is less curly than his. We both have the Irish accent, I'm always quiet and he runs his mouth like a woman. Dad was born and raised in Ireland, I was born in Ireland but we moved along with Dad's friend Brogan. Dad's accent is thicker than mine, mine has a tinge of British, picked up in school. Brogan's nice to me but he always steals no matter where he is! He says I'm becoming more like Dad everyday. Dad's had this long passion for show business, I don't, but if he's happy then I'm happy. He does mostly impressions of famous musicians, he actually can sing pretty well outside of the impersonations. He works as a cabbie for the time being.

Pam was writing a grocery list, we were running out of eggs and milk. She was putting her jacket on but I stopped her.

"I got it Pam."

"Thank you Leslie!"

I went out. The grocery store was about a few miles from Pam's apartment. I was gonna get groceries, come back, and go straight to my job at the beauty salon as a shampoo girl which you don't need experience for.

I came back with the groceries, Pam took them and started putting them away.

"Go on, you don't wanna be late for work," Pam said.

I went back out, after a few seconds of waking, I was stopped by Dad in his cab, on duty.

"Leslie, you need a lift to work?"

"Sure Dad!"

I got in the cab.

"So, how is work going for you?"

"Great, I love it! I hope to gain experience working and hands on stuff at the beauty school...if I get accepted."

"Aw, you will, I know it! You're my baby, I believe in you."

"Thanks."

"You know what I always say."

"Style...smart thinking...showmanship," we said at the same time.

Dad smiled.

"I know Dad."

"It doesn't just apply for show business, it applies to first impressions, everything."

He stopped in front of the salon. I took out some money from my purse.

"Les, you don't have to do that."

"You're on duty, I wanna!"

He smiled and accepted.

"Have a good day!"

"I love you!"

He drove off and I went in.
