Our Story

The Other Boy

With Josh towering other me, we had finally made it to class.

He smiled down at me , he made me feel safe - not like there was anything to be scared of .

Though it felt nice.

My seat was next to Devan , he was the only black boy in the school.

He was one of my best friends , we had grown up together ever since we where babies.

Devan was as tall as Josh, but was slimmer - rather than Josh, who was stocky.

Most of our lessons together consisted of Devan and Josh throwing things and me laughing, i felt like i was being entertained .

Lilo didn't take it the same way, she said they where trying to show of to me .

They wasn't; she just doesn't see signals very well.

Josh sat on my left and Devan on my right , like a sandwich .

"Sophia?" Devan called me out of my stare out the window.

"Mhm?" I smiled .

"You look cute staring out that window . "

"Sorry?" I looked at his face, i couldn't read it.

It was just plain.

"You look c-" I cut him off.

"Nooo, i heard you . What do you mean ?" 

"What , am i not allowed to complement you ?" 

His answer confused me, i felt like he was coming on to me.

Obviously not.

Already it was the end of the day and i headed to the door and it was still raining.

I love the rain.

The smell relaxes your lungs and rejuvenates your nostrils .

Feeling the cold air fill your chest and when your skin feels fresh.

I love the coziness of the big winter coats and leaning up against your friends.

Knowing that when you reach the inside you can just strip down and wrap yourself in thick pyjamas .

I don't like getting wet , i like what comes with it.

"Soph !" I heard Josh from a distance and a big warm arm wrapped around my shoulders .

"You walking home ?" I looked up at him and i saw his head look into the distance , his hair was soaked and dripping down his face.

"I was gonna walk down to the Coffee house and meet Lilo ." I snuggled my head into his arm.

And not in that way - he's my best friend.

"I'll take you down there then." He smiled down at me.

"You live the other side of the Town ?"

"Well, I'm not leaving you to walk all the way there in this fog."

"Aww you love meeee..." I joked , lightly shoving him.

"Shut up." He sneered back.

I saw the Café on near horizon slowly peeling through the fog.

"I'll message you on instagram later, message me when you get home." He pushed me towards the door.

"Don't push me prat."

"Message me when you get home." He pushed back his wet hair and watched me walk up the highstreet.

I found Lilo on an Italian Leather chair , already cradling a cup of tea .

Sat down infant of her, i placed my bag on the floor.

"What took you so long? Your school is closer than mine."

"Oh, Josh was showing me where he used to climb trees and stuff when he was younger, and was sho-" She interrupted.

"I don't care what you two lovebirds where up to." Lilo took a sip of her tea.

"Rude."

"You're much worse than me, " she sniggered.

"Well, guess who called me cute today."

"Josh?" Rolliing her eyes as she tried to care.

"No.."

"Surprising.'

A message appeared on Lilo's phone, i had enough time to read it before she picked it up.

Dylan: You have a crush on me younger brothr looooooool

My stomach dropped, God knows what happened to hers.

"Omg,"

"What?" Not letting her know i read it.

"Tyler knows !"

"Shite ."
