"You should take this too. It looks really good on you" said Faye handing me that red mini dress I tried earlier.
She took me shopping, and I was excited at first. Darien never let me out, he never took me anywhere. So when Faye told me we were going shopping in the city I was thrilled!
But now I just wanted to get back to Caleb's house and sleep. Faye is extremely tiring when in the mall. She is like a 5-year-old on sugar rush! She's been dragging me from one store to another for three hours and she doesn't look tired at all! That werewolf energy is really inexhaustible!
"If I take it can we go back to the pack?" I ask tired and she shakes her head frantically.
"No way! You still need underwear and a pair of heels" she said and I sighed.
"Faye, I'm tired. I'll take the dress since you insist and underwear since they are crucial but heels can wait for another time. Please?" I asked and she sighed accepting my request to go back to the pack.
When we finally returned Caleb along with Kyle and some other men where outside looking like they were preparing for something big. Suddenly, Caleb turned around and run towards me grabbing me into a really tight hug.
"Faye where the fuck have you been?!" he yelled at her but she just rolled her eyes annoyed.
"I told you we were going shopping!" she said walking towards the pack house and handing the bags she was holding to Kyle asking him to take them upstairs in Calebs room.
"I thought it was going to take like an hour, not four!" he said finally letting me go after I wiggled around his embrace to free myself.
These werewolf people are trying to kill me today. And here I thought they wanted me to stay alive.
"She needed a brand new wardrobe since she had nothing. That takes four hours!" she said and dismissed herself.
"Are you okay? Did she drive you insane? She can be very annoying at times" Caleb said taking the rest of the bags from me and walking to his room.
"I'm just tired" I said and once we reached his room I layed down to sleep while he left to take care of Alpha business.
When I woke up I found him sitting next to me and staring at me. He was watching me sleep!
"That's creepy" I said rubbing my eyes. He chuckled and shook his head.
"No it's not. My wolf wanted to cuddle but I'm trying to give you some space" he said and I sighed.
"Pros of being a werewolf's mate" I murmured and he frowned.
"You don't like being my mate?" he asked hurt and I felt a strange need to comfort him. I made him sad.
"It's not you. It's just you're so caring and I'm not used to have someone that actually cares..." I said and walked to the bathroom before he had a chance to reply.
I washed my face and brushed my teeth when my eyes fell on a razor at the top shelf. I didn't think twice before grabbing it. I held it over my left wrist but I froze once it touched my skin. I hesitated.
I promised him two weeks. And we were still on day two. I owed him a chance before taking his life along with mine.
So I put the razor down and with a sigh I exited the bathroom only to see him staring at the door like a sad puppy.
"What stopped you?" he asked and I looked at him confused.
"I heard you the minute you grabbed the razor, but you didn't do it this time. Why? What stopped you?" he said and my mouth formed an o.
"I couldn't" I sighed but he waited more for an answer.
"I want to kill me, but I don't want to kill you" I said refusing to look into his eyes.
"Why?" he insisted.
"I don't know! Maybe because of the mate bond thing or the fact that you took me away from Darien and the fact that you are so nice to me. I can't just kill you... " I said full of uncertainty. I really had no idea why I was acting this way towards him. I barely knew him but the idea of hurting him was unbearable.
"Do you want to go for a run with me?" he asked and I laughed at the sudden change of topic. He is one of a kind.
"I'm not that athletic, plus you have super speed and that's unfair" I said and he chuckled taking a few steps closer until we were face to face.
I could smell his perfume and I was internally melting. His scent was toxic. And it felt like his deep green eyes that stared right back at mine could see beyond me, glancing into my soul, my feelings and my needs.
"Then I'll do the running and you can just enjoy the view" he whispered brushing some hair off my face.
"Okay" I answered softly without registering what he said.
Only after we were standing in the middle of the woods and he started shifting did I understand what he meant. He was going for a run and I was going for a ride.
His bones broke one by one, the sound echoing through the silence of the forest. When he was done, I was back at staring that same pitch black wolf that brought me in the pack the first time.
Caleb's wolf. He moved his head around to adjust and then jumped on me knocking me down and scaring the hell out of me. Not everyday does a giant wolf launch on you.
He immediately caught on my terror and backed away showing me he meant no harm. I guess he was really happy to see me. He approached me again much slower this time and I pet his head.
"Isn't it painful? Your bones breaking?" I asked but he just stared at me.
"Right, can't speak... Stupid me" I murmured and moved my hand on his fur once more.
He gave me a wolfy grin and I laughed at the sight of a powerful Alpha werewolf acting like a couch dog.
I climbed on his back grabbing his fur so as to steady myself and once I was comfortable he spreeded off into the woods. Once more I embraced the fresh air that hit my face and watched as he jumped over locks and roots. When he finally stopped I climbed off his back and looked around.
I couldn't believe in my eyes.
