Cordelia thought she had known pain before. Her life had been a terrible one from the time her mother, the last Supreme, had brought her into the world. Delia had lived fourteen years with Fiona Goode before she was turned over to Myrtle Snow. An elder witch who ran a conservatory for young witches. As an adult Cordelia had married a man named Hank. She had trusted him with her secrets of being a witch and even tried to conceive a child with him. However, her trust was misplaced. Delia was attacked one night leaving her with acid burns on her face and blinded. But through her blindness she gained the gift to see the truth hidden within people's hearts by touching their skin. She saw that he had cheated and so she divorced him. Soon after it was revealed that he was in fact a witch hunter. Her mother had returned into her life. But not with good intentions. Fiona intended to murder the new supreme so that she may have eternal life. The coven put an end to Fiona by exposing her as the devil she was. Cordelia's life had been filled with sorrow.
Fiona's murder left the coven without a supreme. Four girls stood eligible to take thrown as the newest supreme. Zoey, the black widow. Queenie, the human voodoo doll. Madison, the movie star. And finally, Misty, a beautiful soul gifted with the power of resurgence.
The four girls moved fluently through the first few wonders. Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, mind control. Cordelia watched in wonder as her pupils and her friend Misty performed and even made a game out of the wonders.
"How am I doing?" Misty whispered, nudging Codelia and shot her a sly smile. She knew Cordelia couldn't see it, but she hoped Delia felt it in her voice.
"Beautifully." Cordelia smiled sadly.
"I'm just trying to make you proud." Misty blushed as she returned to the other girls.
"Okay ladies!" Cordelia spoke up. "It's time for the most dangerous of the seven wonders; the ability to travel to the nether realm and back before sunrise."
The girls laid on the floor in a circle.
"Is anyone else nervous?" Misty asked.
"Terrified." Zoey sighed.
"Ready witch bitches?" Madison huffed.
"Ready!" Came the chorus of voices.
Cordelia's heart dropped as she felt their spirits descend. She had been scared of this moment the entire time. What if they weren't strong enough to bring themselves back? She feared most for Misty. Yes, she cared for the others deeply. But she couldn't bare the thought of losing Misty.
Two seconds passed. Queenie returned with a gasp of air. She explained that her hell was a never ending line of customers at the chicken restaurant she worked at before coming to the academy.
"Welcome back." Myrtle laughed.
"It's good to be back." Queenie sighed.
Thirty minutes later Madison's spirit surged back into her body.
"It was a live TV musical of the Sound of Music and I wasn't even Maria." Madison scoffed.
"Welcome back, Madison." Cordelia said with very little empathy.
Madison shrugged and rolled her eyes.
The witches waited patiently in the cold sitting room. The roaring fire offering no warmth. Cordelia had wrapped one of Misty's old shawls around her. She pulled it closer as the first hour passed.
"I'm going to get some water." Queenie announced.
"Get me some too its hot in here." Madison complained.
