/Arabella/

I woke up the next morning as the sun was rising into the foggy sky. It was Sunday so I had all day to myself to do what ever I pleased. I quietly told my mom that I was off to the beach and only leaving when I heard her grunt of approval. I left the house in my white bikini and started to strap my board onto the top of our jeep, that since we moved here became mine.

The beach was empty when I got their. Not even the morning joggers were slowly making their way across the shoreline. I figured this was because the sky was so cloudy, the wind was a bit nippy, and Californians need sun to survive.

I wasn't going to complain though. If I got the beach all to myself to enjoy I didn't have a problem with it.

I sat on the sand making sure the wax job I was giving my board was one of perfection when I felt a soft tap on my shoulder.  Turning around I saw Keaton in a wet suit that was resting on his hips with his bare chest showing.

"Mind if we join you? We didn't think anyone else would be out here today." He said as his friend, one I didn't recognize from the shop, came up and stuck his board right by mine.

"Oh course you can, here was with this its the best stuff from Hawaii." I said handing over my wax to him.

"This is Tyler, by the way. Tyler this is Arabella, she's Matt Carson's daughter. You know the surfer?" Keaton said as Tyler and I shook hands. Tyler's face showed he was trying to remember and when he finally did he exclaimed that it was so cool that I was his daughter.

After a few awkward seconds on no one talking I motioned towards the water and suggested we went out.

"So do you also make the boards? Or do you just design them?" Keaton asked me. We had been all sitting in my favorite place of the ocean for the past thirty minuets waiting for something to happen.

"I just design. Dad shapes them and then hands them over to me and, some times he helps, but then I paint them. Then he gets them back and finish them off and what not." I said looking between the two boys I sat with.

"Did you make yours?" He said. I shook my head.

"This belonged to my Neighbour, Kahiau. He's the one who got me surfing." I said stroking my board. It was so beautiful being white with a simple gold stripe down the middle.

"Your dad didn't teach you?" Tyler asked furrowing his brows.

"It makes sense that he would have, but no, he didn't. He actually didn't want me anywhere near the ocean. After his accident surfing almost scared him, so when he went searching for me and found me and Kahiau at this secret beach and I was surfing fairly well for a 12 year old he kind of just gave up and eventually got back on the board." I said smiling and tucking a strand of my wild blonde hair behind my ear.

"Do you miss him? Kahiau?" Keaton said. I nodded my head thinking about his funeral and how we set his casket off into the ocean where he could forever swim with the dolphins.

"Everyday of my life I miss that man. He was the grandfather I never had." I said smiling. Right then the water started to move and I could feel the energy of a wave building.

"This one is mine." I said to two confused boys. But before I could explain that a wave was coming I was already paddling out to meet it.

-

"God that was INSANE," Keaton said as he rode up to the shore. After my first large wave it had been hard to get back out to catch another due to the excessive wave amount. "Like those are the biggest waves I've ever seen here." He said grinning massively at me. Tyler had left thirty minutes before to go meet his mom for brunch so it was just the two of us, now sitting on the warming sand watching the waves hit the beach.

"You're a really cool chick you know that." He said sitting down by me on his towel. I laughed and told him I got that a lot while running my wet hands through the sand.

We st their for a while and talked about everything. We started off asking each other stupid little questions that soon turned into serious ones.

"I just want to get to know more about you." Keaton would say when Id give him the look saying it was time to stop.

"You have a really pretty smile you know that?" I said as he belted laughing at the fact I have a sea turtle living in my pool names Alani, which meant Orange tree. He gave me another smile smacking his hand only my thigh but leaving it there for a few seconds before saying thank you.

"You should come hang out with us tonight. You know real cloths and food." He said leaning back onto his elbow.

"Us as in you Wesley and the other one or you and Tyler?" I said doing the same as him.

"Neither, Me Wesley and Tyler. Drew lives somewhere else." Keaton said waving his hand.

"I guess you can count me in... not like I have anything else to do." I said smiling at him.

We walked back to my jeep as I offered to take him home so he wouldn't have to walk, and started to tie our boards to the top. He was so obsessed with the car that he has to circle it four times touching the metal and telling me facts about it. It was kinda cute so I let him. He Finally got home and started to direct me towards his house. The radio was softly playing on one of the top twenty stations. Keaton quickly turned it off as the beginning of one of the songs belting the name Chloe started to play.

"I hate that song." He said giving me a weird smile and looking out the window.

"I normally never listen to the radio. I have my CD's and that's all I need." I said laughing at his awkwardness over the song that started to play. He agreed with me and started to tell me the next bit of directions. Before I knew it I was Pulling up to an apartment complex. He told me the time and the floor and room number his apartment was and attempted to give me an awkward hug before running up the stairs.

"Kid forgot his damn board." I said parking and getting out. I turned with the board to walk it up to his home but he was already standing there, his goofy grin plastered on his face.

"Thanks for the help Bud." I laughed sarcastically as his grin got bigger.

"Thanks, Ill see you in a few hours." He said taking the board from me and waving as I got back into my car and started driving away.
