Happiness' POV

I can hardly remember the last time I've seen Depression give anyone a smile- a GENUINE smile... I feel so bad for him. He's unable to be happy, and his antidepressants aren't working. I remember back to when we were really little- probably three and four years old- when we were playing at the park together...
(Cue flashback)
"Cmon! I'm gonna beat you to the slide!"
"In your dreams!" Depression was right on my heel, about to pass me, but I scrambled up the ladder in time to beat him to the top.
"Told ya I was gonna beat ya!"
"Pfft- it was luck at best!" He plopped down next to me, the breeze lightly blowing his black bangs out of his face so his bright blue eyes were sparkling in the sunlight.
"You have really pretty eyes..."
Depression looked at me, and with the most serious tone a four year old could have, he replied with "Well you have a really pretty face."
I blushed a dark pink as he giggled at my expression.
"What? I just said that you're really pretty." His smile was so genuine, so wonderful, so full of joy.
"I know, it's just not everyday that I hear something nice like that come out of my bff's mouth!" I gave him a playful little shove.
"Aw cmon, you know it's true!" He playfully shoved me back.
"You know what else is true?"
"Hm?"
"That you're a big dum dum!" I giggled and pushed him down the slide, sliding down after him. I hadn't exactly thought it through beforehand, so when I reached the bottom, I ended up crashing into him and we both fell onto the ground in a pile of giggles.
"I'M the dum dum?" He looked at me with that extremely familiar teasing look in his eye.
"Shut up!" We both stayed there giggling until our parents came over, scooped us up, and took us home.
(End of flashback)
I wish things could go back to the way they were... I was about to relive another flashback right as Depression walked over.

Depression's POV

"Hey Happiness, whatcha thinkin about?"
She looked over at me with a soft smile. "Oh, nothing, just thinking back to when we were kids..."
"Just missin the good old days?"
"Pretty much." She hugged me tightly. "I just miss the old you... the colorful, smiley, happy old you..."
I hugged her back. "Maybe things will change, you know? There's still a chance I'll go back to the way I was."
"Its only possible if you try to-..."
I know what she was gonna say: "It's only possible if you try to change."
"S-sorry, I shouldn't be s-so shallow... I don't want you to c-change, but-"
I cut her off. "Calm down, I get what you're trying to say, don't apologize."
She looked up at me and her expression turned to a hint of sadness. "I miss your beautiful blue eyes... these gray ones just don't suit you..."
I gave her a hint of a smile. "Really? I think they fit me pretty well." I signaled to my outfit and skin tone, all of which is a series of light and dark grays.
"Hehe, you've always been quite the jokester, despite not exactly being happy."
I was about to say something, but .exe cut me off by practically screaming through the intercom.
