Depression's POV

.exe's voice was practically screeching over the intercom, "ALL OF YOU NEED TO START GETTING YOUR JOBS DONE ON TIME! I DON'T PAY YOU TO SLACK OFF!"
"She doesn't pay us at all..." I looked over at Happiness with a small smile and she started snickering.
"Wow Depression, you are just so full of jokes today. You must be in a good mood."
"Yeah..." I mumbled. "Good..."
"YOU LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHINGS! I OUTTA JUST-" the intercom turned staticky and screechy as .exe's screaming turned into incoherent noises.
"Guys! Guys! You're never gonna believe what I just did!" Humor came running down the hall towards me and Happiness.
She sighed, "What'd you do THIS time, Humor?"
"You know how .exe is so keen on us turning in our weekly journals for our 'missions'?"
"Yes, Humor, we know." .exe had only been drilling us about it ever since we started it back in November of 2016... it's September of 2018, by the way.
"Okay, so, I decided it would be funny if I kept Anxiety (female version), Roma (romance, but the female version), Lust's (female version) journals instead of turning them in." Humor snickered as though his "joke" was actually funny. If only he would learn...

Happiness' POV

"Humor, that's not funny! Those poor girls have no idea you did that, and just imagine how upset they're gonna be because of it!"
Humor snickered once again. "Oh please, it's just a little joke, I'm sure they'll understand."
"I get you think this is funny, but it's really not. Those girls are probably getting yelled at by .exe right now and they have no idea why. You can laugh all you want about it, but I can bet that you won't be laughing when one of them comes to you crying because of your little 'joke'." Depression had the most serious look on his face and it would be frightening if you didn't know him as well as I do.
Humor sunk back a bit. "D-don't be silly, Depression, I'm sure it'll be f-fine..."
Right at that moment, Anxiety came down the hall with her head hung low and silent tears making their way down her cheeks.
"Anxiety, what's wrong?"
She looked up and when she saw me she came hurrying over and buried her face in my shoulder. " .exe yelled at me and I d-don't know why, and now I'm scared because I don't know what I did wrong and what if .exe doesn't like me anymore and kicks me out, or-"
" .exe wouldn't do that, and she still likes you. You also didn't do anything wrong, it was Humor. He thought it would be funny to keep your journal instead of turning it in for you." I shot a glare at Humor as I said this, and so did Depression.
Anxiety looked over my shoulder at Humor. "Y-YOU did this?"
I will never forget the look of guilt on Humor's face as he spoke, "Sorry Anxiety, I thought it would be a good joke."
Anxiety's pupils turned into exclamation points. "You thought that this would be a good JOKE? Do you see me LAUGHING? It's not a joke, Humor! Not everything is a joke! Do you know how mad .exe was at me? I was really upset!"
"I know... I'm sorry..." Humor kept his eyes on the ground. "I should probably go tell .exe about what happened... you shouldn't be in trouble for something I did."
"Got THAT right," Anxiety mumbled as her pupils turned back to normal. She gave Humor a small glare as he walked past before she set off back to her room.
"I will never understand the people that live in this place..." Depression muttered before turning to me. "So, you maybe wanna, um... go get lunch?"
"I'd love to!" I gave him a bright smile. To my surprise, he gave me a smile back.
"Great! Meet me outside in ten minutes!" He hurried off back to his room. If I didn't know any better, I would think he was asking me out on a date... guess I'll find out. I smiled to myself as I skipped off to my room to get ready.

(What do you guys think? You think Depression meant it as a date, or do you think he's just being a good bff? Leave a comment telling me what you think, and thanks for reading! See you guys in the next chapter!)
