When Sam woke up the next morning and smelled bacon he almost thought he was back home.
He couldn't remember the last time he had smelled bacon upon waking up.
Nobody in the house woke up to cook. They all just left for work and ate on the road.
Sam quickly showered and went downstairs. He wondered which one of the guys had had a change of heart over night.
When he saw the long dark hair and slender body of Feisty, he froze. He had forgotten about her. Half hoping it had all been a bad dream.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
She turned and looked at him for a second before turning back to her task scoffing.
"Good morning to you too. And I know you're a little dull, but I'm making breakfast."
"Why?" he asked. He liked making her angry.
She ignored him and set out the plates around the island counter.
"We don't eat breakfast together." He informed her.
"We do now." She retorted.
"Who made you queen?" he demanded.
Skai smiled to herself, thinking back to her Snow White analogy.
"What are you smiling about?" Trey asked as he entered the kitchen. "I know I'm sexy, but dang."
Sam watched Skais expression as Trey flirted with her. Instead of getting angry she smiled at him. This irritated Sam because his brother had a black eye from flirting with her.
Before he could confront her, the rest of the guys joined them in the kitchen.
"I thought I did smell some food around here." Ernesto said attempting to steal a strip of bacon from the platter.
Skai slapped his hand. "No lo toca!" she exclaimed.
Ernesto rubbed his hand. "Aye Dios Miyo." He muttered sitting in one of the stools around the island.
Skai layed the counter out with pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon.
"Hi Benjamin." Skai said cheerfully when she noticed him taking a seat.
He just gave her a small smile and started filling his plate. Skai frowned. She had some work to do.
She took a seat and started making her own plate, dousing everything in syrup.
"Geez. Why don't you just use the whole bottle?" Sam said sourly.
"Can I?" Skai asked enthusiastically.
The guys burst out laughing, filling Sam with rage.
This girl came into his house thinking she was all hot stuff. The guys were laughing at her jokes and eating her food and listening to her. They were actually enjoying her presence.
Except for Gus who still hadn't made his plate. He actually looked a little constipated.
Sam glared at the girl who was deep in conversation with Trey.
He couldn't believe Gus was still afraid of her.
The strange part was that he still didn't know her name. He didn't want to know it either. He didn't want to know her. Which meant he would not be eating her food. He wouldn't give her that satisfaction.
He abruptly stood and left the table without a word.
"What's wrong with him?" he heard her ask as he went out the door.
