Part 2

The next morning, Robert woke up wondering if his father was already home; He once told Robert that being a detective was not easy and had risks. Robert put on his comfy slippers, brushed his teeth, and went to the dining room; Something didn't feel right — usually at weekends, he could smell toasts or bacon from the corridor.

"Morning ..." Robert called, as he walked down the stairs. The dining room was empty. Robert went back upstairs and took a peek at his parents' bedroom. Nothing — it was squeaky clean. He wondered where his mother was. Could something had happened to dad? And she went to the police station? — No ... Robert shook his head, but it was no use — He was very worried. Robert quickly took his shower and got dressed. Every weekend Robert met Amanda and Scott, but he guessed they wouldn't mind him skipping, considering he had to find both his parents somehow; He ran downstairs.

"Robert,"

Robert jerked his head, "Mum! I thought you were gone looking for dad."

Elisabeth was standing on the ladder, leaning on one of the bookshelves.

"Don't be silly. Your dad could take care of himself. Could you help me bring me those books in front of you?"

There were stacks of books on the desk. Robert took one, it was heavy, and he put it on the tray beside his mother.

"Thank you, dear — Hmm ... Mr Wilkins still haven't returned 'Watch Mechanics'," said Elisabeth as she went through the pile. "Have you had breakfast? I just remembered that I had to return these books before people come in, and I had not made the toasts yet."

"It's okay, mum. I am going to Amanda's place and have some bread there."

"Okay, have fun."

Robert opened the front door and closed it slowly. He leant beside the door, closed his eyes and breathe. Robert felt a little comfortable that his mother was still at home, and she was quite sure dad was ok. The cool breeze on his face felt so nice, he walked next door to Talia's Cafe.
