The sounds of breakfast in the making woke Peter. All the Avengers were in the common room, talking and making their breakfast. After laying in the spot he fell asleep in for a while, he couldn't help but get up due to the smell of chocolate chip pancakes.
Peter groggily rose and sat on a stool by the island, next to Natasha.
"Good morning, sleepy head." Nat grinned. Peter just laid his head into his arms and mumbled a few things.
"Hey the kids awake!" Steve called from other side of the island, making chocolate chip pancakes.
"What time is it?" Peter asked, thinking it was only 7 AM.
"Uh, about 10," Steve softly laughed, "you know, Tony thought you wouldn't wake up." When he said the word 'Tony', Peters head immediately shot up, looking around the room for a specific somebody.
"Wh-where's Tony?" Frustration and Panic filled Peter, thinking Tony left him.
"Oh well he's just-" Natasha started, while trying to calm down the kid.
"I'm right here, kid. Just in the bathroom." All of a sudden, Tony walked out of the bathroom, quickly going to Peter to calm him.
"O-okay." Giving a soft touch on his shoulder, Peter calmed himself down.
"Did you tell him?" Natasha mouthed and Tony gave a nod, pursing his lips.
Everyone just stood there, staring at the worried two. Tony pulled up a stool next to Peter and sat next to each other. He kept an arm around the teen, hoping his touch would keep him from freaking out.
"Um, I'm gonna go to my room, if that's fine." Tony gave him a nod and Peter left. Tony wanted him to say alongside him in that stool, but he respected what the kid wanted to do and let him leave.
"Man, that kid." Steve sighed, after Peter left the room.
"Huh?" Tony brought his head up to Steve, looking at him from across the marble island.
"He really cares about you. I mean, he freaked out when you were gone, you're always talking about how you guys spend time together it's almost..." Steve trailed off, giving a slight glance to Natasha.
"...like he's your son." Natasha finished with a grin.
"Okay, look, it's an idea in my brain of becoming his legal guardian, but it's still too early to decide it. He just lost his aunt and I'm not going to tell him great news while during a time of loss." Steve shrugged and set a cooked pancake onto a plate, sliding it to Tony. Tony was hungry, but he really wanted to be with Peter. He waved a hand of dismissal and told the team he was going to his lab.
After stepping into the elevator, he pressed a button leading him to where the rooms were instead of going to his lab. Walking down the long and lonely hallways, he finally made his way to Peters room. On the outside of his door was a collage of Spiderman pictures and posters. He was never sure why Peter chose to put them on the outside of his door, but they were just some pictures.
"Pete? Can I come in?" He asked hesitantly, quietly knocking. A murmur comes from the room and Tony walks in. Peter is sitting on the end of his bed, staring at his hands with calluses along the top of his palm.
Tony sat right next to him, wrapped his arm around the kids back. Peter doesn't react, just sits there and stares, probably thinking of a lot of things.
"I cant believe she's not here anymore. She practically died in my hands, and now my life is slowly getting worse." The torn and upset words of the famous Peter Parker, make Tony feel completely heartbroken and upset.
"Oh Peter," Tony covered the shakey hands with his own, rougher hands, "Don't think this way. It's only going to make things worse." He pulled the boy into a side hug.
"Is she actually dead." His asked with a voice crack, due to holding in many tears.
"Mhm."
"B-but she can't be! It's not true. Sh-she can't leave us! She can't l-leave me." He sniffles while trying to keep him tears.
"Hey, you know, it's okay to cry. It's best to let your emotions out." Tony knew this and he wish he did as a child and growing up. He kept his emotions bottled up and was always embarrassed or never open about how he felt.
Peter let out a sob and pressed his face in Tonys shirt. Tony whispered reassuring things while Peter tried to keep himself together. Snot, tears and sweat was covering the left area of Tonys shirt, but he didn't care. He'd do anything to keep Peter safe and have him feel comfortable.
Peter eventually fell asleep and Tony slowly carried to the other side of the bed. He tucked him in and gave him a firm, yet soft kiss onto Peters forehead. Peter responded with a small smile that faded and rolled over to the other side. Tony stood there for a minute, looking at the kid who was basically his son, the kid who could be his son. He smiled and quietly walked out.
While changing his shirt, Steve and Natasha came in his room to check on him.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Tony asked as he turned around, pulling a cotton t-shirt over his face.
"Just making sure you're okay." Steve gave a worrying look and Natasha had her lips pressed into a straight line.
"I'm good, just real worried about that kid. Worried about how he'll take it in and react. It's been a few hours and it's already been pretty heartbreaking." Tony sighed and put the bottom of his palm on his forehead.
"Remember what Steve said yesterday, he's a strong kid and can make it through something like this." Natasha assured him. Natasha always gave Tony and basically the whole team confidence and helped them with their issues. She's been through so much and only speaks the truth, (unless she's told not to since she's a spy), she's always helped the team. Saying the little, but yet powerful comments over the intercoms while fighting. Comforting one who just went through a heartbreak or a loss or anything terrible. The world sees her as private and rude, the team sees her as basically their mom.
"Well, I'm going to head down stairs. Probably eat something." Tony looked back and forth at the two who just entered his room. They all exited together at the same time.
"Oh, I made you special whole grain and wheat pancakes, Tony." Steve said while halfway through the elevator ride.
"What? Why would you- I was just going to have coffee, it doesn't matter." Tony slightly changing the subject to avoid an argument with Steve about his health.
As they entered the common room, Tony went straight to the coffee maker. Steve reminded him to use the specific K-Cups set aside for Tony, but he ignored and chose one that labeled 'Salty Caramel'.
As the coffee brewed and the smell of caramel and coffee was released in the air, the room was still very quiet. Tony was expecting a few comments from the team after he came back, but most of them were gone. The ones who were left stayed quiet, reading, eating or just casually sleeping on a couch (Clint).
He took a sip of the warm coffee and the caffeine filled him. Although coffee didn't give him the same affect alcohol did, he enjoyed it very much.
Natasha and Steve were whispering a conversation to each other in the corner of the room. Tony wanted to walk over and see what they are chatting about, but something kept him right where he was standing, like his legs were glued down.
That's how the rest of the day went. Most people stayed quiet or were gone the day. Natasha and Steve stayed close to Tony to keep him in place and make sure he won't worry. Tony didn't mind the company, he actually enjoyed it and really needed it. Bruce has been gone on a trip to France for something with his research and won't be back for another three weeks, leaving Tony all alone. After Bruce left, which was two weeks ago, Natasha almost immediately hung out with him, like Bruce would do. He also became much closer to Steve and now they label themselves best friends. Natasha always scoffs whenever they mention it, either cause she's jealous, annoyed, or both.
Everything was pretty good for the rest of the day, which left Tony satisfied by the time it reached evening.
Okay I had no idea how to send so here ya go,,a terrible conclusion for this chapter.
