Chapter Nine: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge!
The materialising teleporty thing that gods do is not fun. Next to dying it's one of the most painful things I've ever experienced.
Dematerialisation is a fairly painful process. After all it is the quick disintergration of every molecule in your body. Every time a part of my body disapeared it fired off one of my pain receptors. After I had been completly turned into microscopic particles of light I was catapulted across the country at speeds that should have been impossible.
While dematerialisation is a painful process rematerialisation is an indefinably nausiating one. It seemed to send my whole world spinning. From that point onwards I would never understand why people would ever want the world to revolve around them.
When the four of us appeared in the middle of the mess hall we seemed to have reenacted the end scene from Piper, Leo and Jason's quest. Apart from how awkwardly we had landed. i had appeared right next to a brazier and almost fallen in, Alice had appeare lying on top of the main table, Ebony had appeared perfectly on her seat and Jordan had appeared on top of the Hades table, fallen off, and promptly been caught by Nico. She looked up at him happily (And Damn do I wish girls looked at me like that[So do I])
"I said" It was time for an Arnold Schwarzenegger quote "That all be back" I paused for a moment to let that sink in. Not too long or else they'd figure out I hadn't said that. "And I'm back"
The whole camp gasped and I could see why. Nico was kissing Jordan, properly kissing her. I could tell this was Nico's decision because the look in Jordan's eyes displayed such delighted surprise that she looked happier than a child at christmas. The two of them suddenly realised that everyone was watcing them and broke apart.
"Nice one mate" I said, walking over and slapping Nico on the back "Not such a moning emo git anymore are you?" The two of them blushed.
I smiled and grabbed some food from the Ares table and threw it into one of the braziers.
"Thanks Poseidon" I said, ignoring the cracking of nuckles from the Ares campers whos food I'd taked "We owe you one"
Fortunatly I didn't have to wait long for my chance to get revenge on Clarrise for the nose breaking. The night after we got back was capure the flag. Nico had luckily allied against the Ares cabin but we had a problem. One member of the eight person spec ops squad, Frank Zhang, was on the opposite team and Nico had dropped out to spend the time on guard duty with Jordan. An hour before dinner Annabeth aproached me and Ebony with an offer. And a 45 minute mission briefing. My job was simple. All I had to do was sneak around behind the enemy flag, wait for the others to attack, summon a bunch of zombies as a distraction, grab the flag and run with it back to the border. Easy as?
That dinner was one of the best of my life. Partly because it was one of the first where I felt truly hungry and partly owing to what I ate. It may have looked like Spaggeti and meetballs but that wasn't tomato sauce. It was in fact a specialy blended spicy sauce that practically set your mouth on fire. It was named simply Valdez. Unsuprisingly it had been made by Leo. After I was stupid enough to eat a whole plate full of the Spaggeti, drink a whole litre of the sauce and eat a whole chille I discovered the most amazing sollution to a burning mouth. Black Forest Gâteau and custard.
After that memorable meal it was time for capture the flag. When the conch horn sounded for the start I snuck across the border. I heard the sound of fighting to my left. I knew exactly where the Ares cabin would have hidden the flag. How? Because Leo had sent Bufford out to spy on their movements. Yes that's right I owed my information to a flying table. It was a pretty simple journey, no ambushes. When I reached their base I played the waiting game. About twelve minutes later I recieved the signal from group one. Ebony and Percy. Group two came about a minute later. Leo, Hazel and Piper. They told me, using specialy built communiaction devives, that Jason and Annabeth were already in position in case I needed help escaping. Ready to rock. I gave the signal and all Hades broke loose. Ebony took out the first two guards with a great throw. Percy burst out of the bushes screaming like a demon and swinging Riptide like a madman. He went up against five or six enemies at once. This was the signal for group two. They charged out of cover and crashed into the defence like a tonne of bricks but with a million times the accuracy. Ok. They were disorientated time to call the damned. The zombies burst out of the ground and began attacking. Everytime they were disarmed they threw themselves at there foes ripping weapons out of hands. I rushed out grabbed the flag and started running. I saw a brown haired son of Hermes running at me. I dimly recalled that he was called Aaron. I didn't even slowed down. If anything I sped up moving slightly to the left. As I passed Aaron I slammed the flag into him. One down, however many more to go. I ran by campers fighting. None of them payed me any attention, strange. Then I found out why. Clarrise was stood blocking my way. My backup crew arrived. I didn't wait I just charged. I slammed into Carrise pushing the flag against her armour.
"Jason" I yelled. This plan was crazy but it would probably work. "Lightning" I changed my stance so that Jason had a clear shot at the flag.
Luckily he got the gist. The lightning bolt arched through the flag and me and into Clarrise. She was blasted away from me. Slamming into a tree and crumpling into a heap. I was in pain but I still standing. The whole enemy team backed away. They probably thought I was crazy. After that victory it was easy to walk across the creek. Well I say walk. My armour still contained a massive static charge so I had to jump over the water. I smiled as the flag shimmered to show my cabins emblem. Victory. The only person who was willing to give me a pat on the back while I was wearing my armour was Jason.
"You're crazy" His shock couldn't cover up how happy he was. "You know that don't you?" All it took was a smile to convey my awnser.
