Centuries ago, this material world was connected to a spiritual one, a world filled with many majestic creatures who could roam back and forth through both.
These creatures were different from the ones we have now. Creatures far more wise and evolved than we could even hope to become. These creatures were powerful but peaceful and kept the world in order. One day a wise old spirit of the earth decided to make another race of people in the image of the spirits. He called them Kindling's. The Kindling's were an imperfect race, being made of earth. The spirits enjoyed teaching them and got along well with them, however the other creatures didn't share their feelings. They could see something in the hearts of these new creations that worried them. They believed an imperfect species could not be trusted, but they knew not to speak against their friends the spirits if they wanted to keep peace.

Soon, with the help of the spirits, the Kindling's became more and more intelligent, with that intelligence came the yearning for independence. The Kindling's became proud and ungrateful. They broke their bond with the spirits and threw away anything that could imply that the spirits were dominant.

The spirits were hurt by the actions of this little race but, being the peaceful creatures they were, did not want to hurt their old friends. So they hid. They shrank back into the grand world of the perfect, leaving them in their .The other creatures joined their spirit friends, leaving the Kindling's to fend for themselves in the harsh material world they were born in.

While the Kindling's were celebrating their independence, a young woman snuck away and approached the entrance to the spirit world. The brave woman begged for forgiveness and a chance to repent in order for her people to keep a connection with their creatures. The Ancients tested the woman which would show her true desires, and if they were just, would make her one with both the spirits and the Kindling's. This was called a Spiritling by all the creatures.

When she died her spirituality was passed down through her descendants and the Ancients never forgot the act of this one imperfect Kindling.
