Our story begins in the Hidden Rain Village, where a fifteen year old girl could be found scavenging food from dumpsters and trash cans.  Her name was Hitome Kitsune, she had silver hair that went down to her butt, although you probably couldn't tell the color because of all the dirt and grime. Her eyes were a mesmerizing blood red that you could gaze into and never get tired of.  Her most intriguing features, however, were the two silver fox ears sticking out of the top of her head, and the silver fox tail coming out of her tailbone. The reason for her ears and tail, was because she was from the Kitsune clan. Due to a genetic connection with foxes, and the clan's signing of the Fox Summoning contract, all Kitsune clan members had these features.

Being from the Kitsune clan, she was gifted with longevity, much like that of the Uzumaki clan, and had the natural ability to summon foxes, including the Kyuubi no Kitsune. However, she had to reach the age of sixteen before the ability would manifest itself, and the great tailed-beast: Kyuubi was sealed, so she could not summon him. The only person capable of summoning the Kyuubi no Kitsune when it was sealed, was the clan head, and he had died during the Whirlpool Incident. Another similarity to the Uzumaki clan was that she also had the ability to heal much quicker than a normal person. There was a downside to being from the Kitsune clan, however. That downside was that many people misjudged, and mistreated her because of her fox-like appearance.

She had been hated by the villagers since she was seven. People would think that she was a Han-you or half-demon.  They would call her names, spit at her, and some of the more daring ones would even attack and try to kill her.  She was shunned for something that wasn't her fault, something that she had no control over.  The beatings only got worse as she got older, she had no true friends, no home, nowhere to go that would protect her from the wrath of the villagers.  She was alone.  She had no one.

Hitome had to constantly hide and watch her back every day to avoid getting beaten to a bloody pulp by the villagers.  The only way she had survived this long was because of her two years of training at the ninja academy.  Hitome was very intelligent, even at the young age of six she could solve problems that even some adults had trouble solving. The Kitsune clan had originally lived in Whirlpool with the Uzumaki clan. The two clans lived peacefully together, going about their daily business the same as anyone else in the village. The academy in Whirlpool, along with her parents, noticed Hitome's intellect, and started her training early. The Kitsune and Uzumaki had lived in peace for years, even before Hitome was born. Over time, both of the clans grew and grew in strength, that was when the villages of Kiri, Kumo, and Iwa attacked, wanting to rid themselves of a potential threat to their villages. Hitome and her parents survived the Whirlpool Incident, and had, fearing Konoha had a hand in the attack, settled in the Hidden Rain Village.

*FLASHBACK*

One year after Hitome and her parents arrived in the Hidden Rain.

Hitome was now seven years old, and had just finished her first year at the Hidden Rain's ninja academy. She was in her room, on the second floor of their house, when she heard a commotion downstairs. She heard her mother scream, and ran down the stairs. When she got to where her mother was standing, she saw her father on the floor in a puddle of blood; a squad of Sound shinobi standing over him. Hitome looked at the Sound shinobi and noticed that one of them was wounded and had a large gash across his chest, presumably given to him by her father. As she was processing this, her mother pulled out a kunai, looked back at Hitome, and in a serious and commanding voice said, "Hitome, run. Get out of here!" following her mother's orders, Hitome raced out the back door, running towards the forest, tears streaming down her face as she made it into the forest that made up most of the backyard. Hitome noticed she was being followed and stopped to check her surroundings for a place to hide.  Her short search paid off when she found a crevice concealed under a large bush.  The crevice was just deep enough for her to fit in, so, using her slim figure to her advantage, Hitome climbed into the crevice, hid, and waited. The Oto-nin that were chasing her, stopped their tree hopping, and landed in the clearing.

The first Oto-nin turned to the second and said, "Damn that brat's fast, we lost her, and now we're probably going to get experimented on by Lord Orochimaru."

"That would be terrible, remember what happened to Kagumo?" The second replied. Both men shuddered at the mention of Kagumo, then the first Oto-nin said,

"Well, there's no point in looking for her anymore, it's getting dark. Besides, we still completed our secondary objective, so the boss shouldn't be too mad." the second nodded in agreement, and they both headed back towards the house to get the two squad members still at the house, and then return to Orochimaru's hideout.
