*FLASHBACK*

She waited a few minutes just to be sure that the two Oto-nin had gone.  After she was sure they had left, Hitome climbed out of the crevice and headed in the direction of her house.  When she got to the house, she immediately noticed that the room in which her father was killed, looked as though it hadn't even been touched; everything was in it's proper place. The bodies of her parents were nowhere to be found, there weren't even any bloodstains from where her father had been killed.  Hitome just stood there for a few moments, tears began to well up in her eyes as she remembered what had occurred here just minutes earlier.  She wiped away the tears and steeled herself thinking,  'No, this is not the time to cry, I've got to get out of here while I still can. Since I can't stay here, I have to find anything useful that I'll need to survive.' as she made a mental list of the items she could use.

She then walked through the house, searching for anything that may be of use to her in the near future. Hitome went up the stairs, to her room, grabbed a few extra pairs of clothes, her backpack, and her ninja pouch. After checking to make sure she had all of her ninja tools, she put her extra clothes in her backpack, and went back down the stairs. Hitome then went to the fridge, where she found some food and water, and put them in the backpack, away from her clothes. All of a sudden, Hitome remembered that her father had a safe upstairs in the master bedroom, she found the key to the safe under her parents' bed, she saw the safe next to the bed, went over and opened it. When she opened the safe, she saw that it was full of money. She put some of it in her pocket and put the rest in her backpack and zipped it up.

Hitome was about to leave the room, when she noticed something shiny from the corner of her eye. It was a katana that had a jet black sheath, and pure white hilt. She walked over to get a closer look at the sword. The sword was about four foot long with an ivory dragon carved out to make the hilt of the katana.

Hitome picked the sword up, unsheathed it, and studied it's design and craftsmanship. Upon closer inspection, Hitome noticed something carved into the blade. Near the hilt, the kanji for kitsune were etched into the shiny, silver blade.

After she saw the word etched into the blade, Hitome instantly knew what the blade was. This particular blade belonged to the Kitsune clan. She remembered learning about the sword at the academy in Whirlpool when she was four years old. The teacher at the academy had said that sword was named the Kitsune Sword, and that the wielder of the sword had to be from the Kitsune Clan. The teacher had also told the class about another sword called the Uzumaki Blade, and that the weilder of the Uzumaki Blade must be an Uzumaki.

The teacher had said that both swords were both very powerful if used individually. He also said that whoever is able to wield both, the Kitsune Sword, and the Uzumaki Blade, together in battle must possess extraordinary power, courage, and the will to never give up in the face of any enemy, as well as, be from both, the Uzumaki, and the Kitsune clans. After thinking back on what the academy teacher from Whirlpool had said about the two swords, Hitome put the katana back in it's sheath, and strapped the sword to her back as she walked out of the room. She went back downstairs, and after checking to make sure she had everything, she walked out of the house.

<Elsewhere, in a certain underground hideout>

"The Uzumaki Blade, what a beautiful weapon. Don't you think so too, Kabuto?" said a certain snake sannin to his lackey.

"Yes, it is indeed, Orochimaru-sama." said Kabuto.

There was a moment of silence between the two before Kabuto spoke up again.

"Dosu and his team have returned without their target, however, they managed to accomplish their secondary objective."

"Good, tell Dosu and his team to take her to my next hideout."

"Although, I would have preferred the capture of little Hitome-chan, her mother will suffice. I will just be patient and capture her at a later time."

"Yes, Orochimaru-sama." replied Kabuto, before walking off to inform Dosu's team of their new orders.
