the sound of people chattering is flowing in and out of my ears once again. not paying attention to anything that's going on in their conversation, unless they call my name.
like this time.
"Didar!" mrs. Olson, the owner of the shop shouts, covering all of the sounds from inside the kitchen.
yes, that is my name. Didar Lopaz. i'm 19 years old. i have long straight black hair and green eyes. i'm pretty thin and tall. i work at domino's pizza. my job is to deliver the greasy meal over to the client's house. i climb on my vespa and receiving the right amount of money. i love sports, even though i barely do any because of my job. the only movement i do except for daily climbing on my pastel pink vespa, is jog for one hour at five in the morning. i like to wake up early because i always admire the morning's colourful and astonishing dawn. its colours lights up the dark days of mine. i live alone in the isolated streets of Portland, Oregon. both of my parents decided to divorce. leaving me here. my mom moved to Germany and has four beautiful blonde kids. Kara is one, Shawn is two, Esther is four and Joe is four too.
my parents and i don't really have a strong bond with each other. we do text or call sometimes, but usually silence takes over and the atmosphere turns awkward. my dad lives in Vienna, Austria. he's got two, five year old twins. Veronica and Lora. i've got a brother named Asher. he's 22 and lives on the cold and dark streets of Nebraska with two huskies and his girlfriend. he has dark hair as well and mint green eyes. him and i's bond is pretty unbelievably unbreakable. we talk daily and keep no secrets from each other since we were little. his girlfriend's name is Angie and she's surprisingly sweet. she's thin and tall, has long strawberry blonde hair and big hazel eyes."yes m'am?" i question the woman with a soft voice, slightly under the chattering tone heard in the room.
"a boy called saying he'd like to have a pepperoni pizza delivered over at his place." she explained to me, handing me a small notebook with an address written on it, assuming it'd be the boy's. i gently took the notebook with my right hand and looked at the address. 'Maple Street, 2nd avenue'. i nodded and ripped the paper with my left hand so i could put the address on my phone and handed her the simple black big squared notebook back. she rapidly smiled and left to the front of the kitchen.
i follow the woman, eyeing a few pizza cartons with inside the delicious mess being ready for me to deliver it. Scott the chef, hands me the ordered pizza carton containing the dish that just got freshly out of the warm oven. i cautiously took the colourful carton and walked to the front desk, attaching the receipt on the carton with a stapler.
i stuffed it in my big domino's back pack and soon climbed on the old pastel vehicle, putting on a black helmet. reaching a few of the long streets of Portland, with long and big green aspens, beautiful flowery bushes and passing by a few people, i have arrived at the requested destination. i take off my helmet, placing it in a small pocket outside of the vespa and took out the pizza carton.
i ran up to the house and quickly admired the small white ville that had left me mesmerised. there's a beautiful and colourful garden that you can peak from the house's driveway. three expensive bmws were parked behind one another. i ran up the three white marble steps and rang the round doorbell, waiting for someone to come and open the door.
"hello! domino's pizza's delivery is here for you" is the sentence i always say to everyone that orders our pizzas. a really thin, blue eyed, brown hair teen revealed, coming from his front door and up to his porch. i gulped loudly and quickly regret it. he stood there, holding the right side of his door frame with his right hand looking at me. he smiled and nodded.
"thank you so much" he says slowly, taking the carton out with his left hand out of mine kindly nodding.
"ok, it's $5 please" i announced, stuffing both of my thumbs in my jeans' front pocket and tucking a small strand of hair behind my small ear. he nods and runs inside to grab the paper bill. i took a sneak peek of inside the house before he could come back. there were many small statues placed onto the wood floor, decorating the cozy winter atmosphere simply made of the soft white couch and a 75 inch tv with family pictures hung neatly on the white walls. he ran back outside to his porch where i was standing and i just went back to the position i was in before he went inside. he smiled handing me the thin bill. i smile back, grabbing the paper and stuffing it back in my pocket. silence took over while staring came along.
"so.. what's your name?" the boy asks me with interest in his deep light blue eyes. he took a step in front of me.
"Didar." i responded at the tall figure of his, standing in front of me. he smiled.
"what a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. i'm Daniel. Daniel Seavey" he said and quickly shook my hand, revealing his tooth gap that popped out of his mouth. i blushed and looked away from his comment. me? beautiful? no.
he turned around and placed the pizza carton on top of a small metal table that was at the house entrance.
"are you busy..?" he asked me kindly, interlocking both of his hands together making a slight sound while they both met. i could feel how nervous he felt. i recapped all the things Scott has told me to do this morning and no things that are necessary came to mind. i shook my head with a smile.
"um, no actually" i answer, taking a step further and attempted to stuff my hair into a messy ponytail. he looked around the apartment behind me. beautiful trees decorated around a fence and flower bushes popped up.
he scratched the back of his neck and took a deep breath, looking back at me.
"would you maybe want to- stay? we can share the pizza" he asked swiftly and played with his long fingers and twiddling his thumbs. i thought of it for a second. a really handsome and good looking stranger has just asked me to stay over at his luxurious house to share a pizza i brought to him? yes sir.
"why not?"
