Ch.2- Being Noticed

No-One’s POV

 Michael started performing. He began with ‘I Want You Back’ and was backed up by his brothers. The beat then came in. They then started dancing.

“Everyone clap your hands c’mon! Hooo!”, he yelled out.

"When I had you to myself, I didn’t want you around. Those pretty faces always made you stand out in the crowd.", he sang- lively and energetic.
Michael was into the song and so was everyone else. They stood up, cheered and sang along.

"Oh baby! Give me one more chance!”, he belted.
He was really in the mood of performing. He then kicked and turned around at the end of the song. The crowd went crazy. They jumped from their seats and applauded him. Billie got up and clapped her hands too. Drew was jumping up and down. She shook Billie.

“Unbelievable!” she yelled. Michael looked down at the crowd and glanced in Billie’s area.

He could see that she wasn’t enjoying the show. Billie just looked at Drew when she was jumping up and down as if Drew was absurd. He then looked away and then sung “Stop The Love You Save”. He danced all around the stage-giving static and love to each and every person in his audience. Randy then ran on stage. Michael yelled “Randy!” to his little brother who joined them onstage.

The following songs were ‘ABC’, ‘Candy Girl’, ‘Dancing Machine’, ‘Blame It On The Boogie’, ‘Blues Away’, ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’, ‘Big Boy’, ‘Good Thing Going’, ‘My Girl’, ‘Rockin” Robin’, ‘One Day In Your Life’ and many more! He had put an equal amount of energy in all of them. His brothers- Tito, Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Randy- went off stage.

“I want to give you wonderful people some sense of what my new album is about. I’ll sing two songs from it.”, he said to the audience with sweat rolling down his face like beads rolling over a table. He glanced into Billie’s direction only to find her looking at her watch on her arm. He looked away quickly and cued for the beat. The beat came in but he just couldn’t carry on with the concert when he knew that someone in the audience wasn’t enjoying it.

It cut him like a knife to know that he couldn’t cheer this person up. He was unable to cheer Billie up. He sang each song great or so he thought. The reaction from the crowd told him that he was great but the reaction from Billie made him feel immature.

“Wait!” he shouted out to the crew as he held his hand up to stop the music.

“I...I can’t proceed.”, he said.
Quincy Jones hissed to him, "What are you doing Michael?” Michael looked to the back because Quincy was backstage. “Someone’s not enjoying herself", Michael replied. The audience gasped. He jumped off the stage. He made his way through to the front row and hugged Billie tightly.

“What’s wrong?” he whispered into her ear-he was concerned-”I’ve been looking at you throughout the concert and you’re not feeling it. Is it me?” Drew inhaled loudly and held her breath. He started smiling but Billie just looked at him after he stopped hugging her. She felt warmth and love when he held her. She felt protected and happy when he hugged her.

“It’s not you...my friend forced me to come to your concert and she knew I had to study for my final examination. I...I don’t even know why she brought me here". Billie looked into his eyes.

He looked back into hers and searched it. “Is she lying? No-one has ever told me that they’ve never enjoyed any of my concerts”, he thought.

“It’s alright. It’s okay”, he whispered back to her. She had hurt him badly and she knew it. Drew was shocked. He then did the most unexpected thing ever.

“Well... I’m not done”. He then looked up and gave off a cute grin. “Come with me”, he said while taking hold of the hand that she held on her hip and walked her up the stage.

“Proceed”, he whispered onto his microphone with his soft voice. The beat had begun. He called his brothers to the stage to sing the second last song of the concert with him. He changed the programme. He was to sing ‘Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough’ and ‘Rock With You’ but he sang ‘Enjoy Yourself’. The beat had a jazz tone in it. He then danced around Billie and she actually found it funny and let out a little giggle.

He then asked her if she could dance. He then placed the microphone before her. She gave him a curious glare with a smile. “Hand me my own microphone to find out”, she finally said. The crowd of the audience then went insane.

“What? Wait... so you’re going to sing?” he asked with some sort of confused face.

“Well...yeah. That’s why I asked for a microphone”, she said raising her eyebrow. He looked at her for a while before asking a crew member to bring out one for her. He cued for the music to start from the beginning.

“Blow me away”, he said to her before smiling to his brothers.

This shall be interesting.

“How about I sing ‘Enjoy Yourself’ to loosen you a bit and you can sing ‘Shake Your Body Down To The Ground’?” He asked her.

“Well, why not?” She replied.
