"Mom, c'mon. You promised you'd take me to get some stuff." My mother lazily rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Iris, I'll take you to the mall. But we aren't just going to Hot Topic and staying there for 2 hours." I jumped up and down and grabbed my all black Vans, laced them up, and ran down the stairs.

My little sister, Cali was sitting on the couch, watching this stupid little kid show. I turned off the television and threw her shoes her way. I wasn't too excited, but I knew my mom would find any excuse for us not to go.
"Hey!" She stood up to come at me, but I held up my hand to catch her attention.
"We're going to the mall, so hurry up." Her eyes lit up in excitement and she proceeded to get her shoes on.

...

The drive there wasn't too bad, thanks to my headphones. "Navy Blue" by The Story So Far played and I sung along.

Music was the one thing that made everything better, and it has saved my life plenty of times. 6 of the sixteen years of my life were made better by music, even though what I listen to is considered to be "emo" music. It pisses me off, a lot. But people will think what they want. I have a few friends in the music business, quite a few in fact. Mostly because of my older brother, Kellin. They're all such amazing people, and have helped me through so much. I'm a singer, and hopefully I'll be able to help others too.

We pulled up to the front parking space by the mall, and I took off my headphones. I heard Cali yelling about some game she wanted, and my mother trying to convince her she didn't need it. I sighed, and got out of the car. My whole family was just annoying in general.. Its best just to ignore it all.

We walked in, and I automatically started up the escalator, expecting my mother and sister to follow, which they did. I come here all the time just for this store, Hot Topic. It's the only store I'll shop at for clothes, piercings, anything like that. Since I know where everything is, I don't waste my time walking to the store. The moment I walk in, I hear music playing, and people talking and laughing. A girl with bright white hair, an angel bite piercing, and a couple tattoos gives me a big smile and asks,

"Hey! Can I help you find anything?" I smiled back at her friendliness, and said,

"No, thank you though. You haven't seen Austin here have you?" She nodded and yelled from behind her,

"Austin! A girl is here to talk to you."

A tall man with dark brown hair, covered in tattoos, walks through a doorway which I assume is the back.

"Iris! Girl I have missed you so much!" He ran to me and pulled me into a big hug. I giggled and hugged him back

"I missed you too! You've been on tour so much lately."

"Yeah, but I'm back in town for a few months, so we can hang out all the time."

"Sounds good! Can I stay over tonight? I'll have to let mom know, but I'm sure I can."

Some people found it weird that I stayed over at Kellin's friends houses, but they're all like brothers to me, and they're all in their late 20's, I'm only 15.

"Sure, kid! I have to run by Alan's place, but I'll pick you up from here in like an hour?" I nodded and smiled, and he turned to the blond girl, "Casey, let her pick out two outfits, I'll pay for it later."

I raised an eyebrow at him "Austin, you don't have to do that you know."

He smiled and ruffled my hair "I know." And he walked out of the store and out the exit.

I called my mom and after a couple rings she answered, "Hello?"

"Hey, Austin's back from tour and is gonna pick me up from here in an hour, okay?"

"Yeah that's fine." And she hung up. She always didn't like me very much, even when she tried to act affectionate she failed. When I was a baby, my dad left. It's changed my mom, and it's changed Kellin too.

I put my phone in my back pocket and walked towards the band shirts, picked up a Pierce The Veil shirt, and some black skinny jeans, and I saw a Bring Me The Horizon shirt that I could wear for pajamas, but couldn't quite reach it. I stood on the edge of my toes, trying to balance myself when I feel warm, strong hands get placed on my waist, and lift me up an inch to grab the shirt. At first I was scared, but I then calmed, almost feeling the kindness and strength in the persons soul. They set me down, and I turned around, looking into his eyes.

He was tan, with dark brown eyes and shiny black hair that was flipped to the side. His smile made me smile, and he looked into my eyes, mesmerized.

"You have beautiful eyes." His voice was low and husky, but felt comforting in a way.

"I uh...thanks." I blushed. He still had his hands on my waist, but the grip loosened into a hold. He slowly pulled me in closer, and our lips were mere inches apart. His breath was on my lips, and it made me shudder.

He whispered softly, "I'm Ben."

"Hello Ben. I'm Iris." I whispered back.

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl."

I giggled softly, and Casey spoke up.

"I uh.. Hate to interrupt. But Mr. Carlile is out front waiting." She shyly stepped back a little and even though I didn't want to, I slowly pulled away for him. He grabbed the pen out of Casey's hand, took my hand, and wrote his phone number digits in beautiful writing.

"Call me, text me, whatever. I'm always available, love." He kissed my lips gently, and walked out. I stood there with my eyes opened wide.
