Doku woke up to the beeping of an alarm clock. He turned over on his back and slapped the clock, then feeling himself sliding off his hard mattress. Soon enough, Doku found that he was on the cold wood floor, looking up at the ceiling. "School...", he grumbled. The sleepy boy slowly stood up and reached for his glasses. He slid them onto his face, and stumbled over to his dresser, starting to get dressed for school. Once he was dressed, he walked into the kitchen, looking around hungrily for something to eat. All Doku found was an expired vanilla yogurt, an old moldy banana, and a few crumbs of crereal left in a bowl. He glanced over at a piece of paper lying on the counter. Doku picked it up and began reading the neat cursive on the paper. "Doku", the note said. "There is not much food, and I need to go shopping, so please eat something at school. I will not be coming home until late, so I need you to watch your sisters after school. I will see you later tonight. You are the greatest kid, you know that? I love you. Mom" Doku put down the note and was angry. "I have to watch those brats again?!" He grabbed his backpack, and started out the door. He walked down the road to his bus stop. Doku had always liked the road he lived on. It was a beautiful walk down to the bus stop, with large and full Cherry Blossom trees. He liked to stop and stare at them for a while, and then continue moving on down the road. He reached the stop, and greeted his friend Levi. "What's up, man?" They fist bumped eachother, and sat down on the cement curb. "Anything new?", Levi asked. Doku responded complaining ,"I have to watch the monsters again." "Oh", Levi replied. Doku then stood up as the bright bus pulled up next to them. The two boys got on the bus and sat down all the way in the back, their favorite seat, since it was away from the crowd. "So, ready for another half of school?", Levi questioned. "Don't remind me. I have to deal with the bullies." Bullies were always a big problem for Doku. He never made many friends, for he was somewhat socially impaired. Both the boys stayed quiet for the rest of the ride to school, looking out the window watching fellow students pass by. When the bus reached the school, Doku slowly walked out, Levi trailing behind him. Before Doku reached the doors of the school, he was slammed into the building by a tall buff boy. "Hey nerdy. Got any facts for me today?", the boy said. Doku had many thoughts rushing through his head, but he stayed quiet. The boy kept yelling insults into his face, spitting at Doku, and calling him names. Eventually, the boy let Doku go, and Levi ran over. "Sorry man! I was talking to some chicks over their, I didn't realize..." Doku just nodded and walked to class, imagining a million ways that he could tourture the boy who slammed him against the wall. "There's not much you can do about bullies, Levi"
