Chapter 12: History Class

The trio hit the cold hard floor. Mayu was the first one to get up. She was having a conflict of emotions, but did not show it, because she is not sure who made it out alive, and where they are now.

"I want some answers", Doku demanded. He was trying to act strong, but on the inside, he was a scared and confused child. "Ok, I realize you have been brought into all of this very quickly, but you have to understand, not all of us can...." Mayu turned around, tears hitting the ground. "Not all of us can take this madness anymore!"

Doku and Niomi tried to calm Mayu down. She started sobbing, and telling us everything that she had been feeling. "The w-worst part... My crush died..."

Eventually, Mayu stopped crying. "Sorry about my fit." She sat up. "I will now explain to you the history of everything I dragged you into. It all started before humans roamed this planet.

**In a different realm**

"Sir, there have been portals opening all around, and we can't stop them from pouring in for much longer! We are losing too many Protectors! We need to find a way to keep everyone safe!"

This realm was a place of relaxation, peace, and tranquility, until the demons attacked. Everyone in this realm had abilities, all which were unique to the person. When the demons attacked, the people weren't ready, and many people died. Then, the realm realized it would have to train it's people to learn how to fight against the demons. They hand selected few people who could demonstrate their power, and tought them how to fight. These warriors were called Protectors. As the war went on, more demons came, and eventually, all hope was lost. The realm had to rely on a last resort. One man, Shu Liku, came up with a way to erase ones memories, and replace them with new ones. So the realm had an idea. They would find a new realm (which they already found), erase all of the people's memories, and hide them in this realm, while most of the Protectors would hide with them. They had to act quickly, and soon, their plan was complete. The whole realm was evacuated, and many lifes were saved.

**Present Realm**

"And that's the story." "So, why can I see demons but Niomi can't?" Mayu looked puzzled. "My guess is her dad was a Protector and her mother was not, making her only half, giving her only the ability to see into the future." Doku and Niomi were very pleased to hear the history, so that they got an idea of what was going on then, but Doku wanted to know more. "So, how did they find us?" "They found us because we made a mistake. When we evacuated, we accidentally took a demon along with us. No one could see it but the Protectors, and they easily killed it, but the demon had already transmitted the location of the new realm. By then, it was too late." Doku had one more question. "Why do they not attack humans now?" "That, I am not sure. It seems as if they are trying to rally up an army, because they open portals near the same places, but like I said, no one is sure."

They all started to get settled, everyone was exhausted. Doku laid down, and Niomi curled up on top of him, looking for warmth. Doku could feel her heart up against his, smelling the sweet sent of her hair, and her soft touch filling his heart up with warmth. At that, he quickly fell asleep.

When they woke up, they were all hungry, restless, and still upset about last nights events. When Mayu went to look for food, Niomi began to talk with Doku. "Doku? What happens after this?" Doku sits, with Niomi's head on his shoulder, and says ,"I'm not sure, but whatever happens, I will keep you safe." Niomi knew she loved him, and wanted the rest of their lifes to be peaceful.

When Mayu returned, she told Doku and Niomi more about random history, and then, they came again.
