The next following days were absolutely phenomenal for the both of you. You were starting to warm back up to Tooru and he was happier than you had ever seen him be before. Sure, you had another few accidents during the days, but you shook it off. It was bound to happen when your roommate was a being that literally fed off sexual intercourse, no?

The fact that most of those lusting sessions happened to be mostly fixated on Tooru himself made it much clearer that it was in fact nothing more than a side effect of being marked. You could live with it, as long as the longing didn't interrupt with your day-to-day life (which for now, it wasn't).

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Called Mutsuki as he walked near the couch you were sitting on. "I know you're probably past it all, but I wanted to say I'm sorry for what I've done." He then sat down beside you, gazing at you with the most remorseful look you had ever seen in your life. Honestly, the man looked like a kicked puppy.

"It's alright, I'm ready to forgive you." The male nodded, not looking relieved at all, while you simply chuckled. "But you have no idea what you've done wrong, don't you?"

Another nod.

"I don't exactly enjoy being called food."

His eyes lit up with understanding before dulling back down into confusion. "But... We were on the other side of the café..." He mumbled.

"I know, I don't understand how I heard either, but I did, and I sort of hurt. I thought we were friends."

"We are!" Tooru insisted, leaning forward with a serious expression. "I just got carried away. She wasn't a good influence on you, you know. Next thing you know, she would have been looking for a way to claim you! I couldn't let that happen, you have to understand!" He then leaned back a bit, anxiously waiting for your response while he thought back about what you said. If you had heard them from afar, then... He really had to hurry up before it was too late.

"I know, I sort of realized that when I was busy pouting like a child." You chuckled. "And I should also apologize for treating you like that. I should have confronted you about it instead of pushing away both you and the problem." You placed your hand on his, which rested on his thigh, before giving him a shy smile. "I hope you can forgiv-"

"Of course I can!" He interrupted before quickly shutting his mouth and blushing. "Sorry, I didn't intend on interrupting you, it's just that it seemed like a no-brainer for me. And during that time, I sort of learned something about myself."

"That you're lonely without me?" You teased. However, his answer did seem to shock you.

"Yeah, I was." He then turned his hand so his palm would be touching yours, proceeding with entwining your fingers together. Mutsuki tried his best to ignore his nervousness and his racing heart. This might be the moment that defines your future, he needed to be careful with how he worded his thoughts. "I... I really missed you, if that wasn't obvious enough. I realized that I really, really like you, and that I don't think I'd be able to go back to how things were before I met you. I'm way happier with you in my life and I'm super grateful for bumping into you on that street."

He watched as you mischievously smiled at him. Here comes a witty remark...

"What are you gonna do, Mucchan? Die in my arms all of a sudden?" You teased. Once you noticed that he wasn't smiling back at you, you realized that you might need to shut up right now. He was being completely serious.

"What I'm trying to say is that I think I might love you."

According to your facial expression, Mutsuki assumed that must have felt like a slap to the face. You remained there, speechless for a while.
