Lindsey's POV

"Sam, ready?" I say and he throws his shirt on. "Yep" He says and I grab his keys. I walk out my bedroom door and knock on the spare bedroom door. "Are you ready?" I say and Madison walks out, followed by Cal. I see Sam coming and I walk downstairs and out the front door. I get in the car and adjust the seat before I pull out. It takes a second and Sam laughs at me. "Hush" I say. I'm extra careful as I pull out and drive Sam's car.

Madison is giving me directions and it seems like it's taking forever. After about thirty minutes we pull up to a huge house. I get out and hook his keys to my belt loop, just in case. I knock and as soon as I do, somebody answers the door and welcomes us inside. "Thanks" I say as Sam grips my hand. I walk into the unfamiliar house and head to the kitchen. When we get there, I look at Sam. "Knock yourself out" I say and he grins. He makes drinks for him, Madison, and Cal. I can tell he's getting tipsy when he pulls me into a crowd of bodies. I walk in it with him and he happens to pull me to the other side, by the beer pong tables. Him, Cal, and Madison play. Sam beats both of them after about thirty minutes and you can tell he's pretty drunk.

After another round of beer pong, Sam makes another drink for himself. The scent of pot is in the air and I'm hoping I don't get a contact high. I'd rather not be high while I drive Sam's car. Sam is pulling me through the crowd and I feel somebody grab my wrist. When I stop and look around I freeze at the face smirking back at me. It's my ex. Fuck. This isn't going to end good. After a few seconds of looking at him speechless, he speaks. "Hey bitch, I heard you found someone new" He says and my feet start to move away from him

As fast as they will go. Sam's hand is soon ripped from my grasp as I see him running up to Aaron. This can not be happening. As I rush towards them I can't make out what they're exactly yelling. There is already a circle forming around them as I see Aaron shove Sam. I try to pull Sam's shirt and I see his arm extend back and snap forward. "Sam!" I yell as I look around for the one person willing to help. I watch as Aaron gets a few hits on Sam in horror. Sam pins him down and throws many punches to his face. I hurry and look around to see Cal rushing towards me, weaving through people. He wraps his arms around Sam's torso firmly and jerks him back as Sam swings on Aaron. I push Sam back as he pushes the opposite way. "Sam! Stop!" I scream in his face. Cal moves in front of me and pushes Sam to the front door. When he gets him out of it he stumbles on the lawn. "The fuck were you thinking? Leave shit alone Sam!" I yell and walk to the car. I get in the front seat as Madison rushes to the car. "I didn't know he was going to be here, I'm so sorry!" Madison drunkenly yells. "It's fine, you didn't know, get in" I say and she does. I see Cal push Sam to the car by the back of his neck. When he gets in he looks at me but I ignore him. I feel him bring his hand up to my face and wipe some half way dried tears away that I didn't know I had. I push his arm away and turn on the car as Cal gets in. I pull off and the car is silent. It's silent for almost the rest of the way home except for small talk between Madison and Cal. I pull into the driveway and get out. I walk in and go straight to my room. Sam doesn't understand. He can't just walk up to anybody he doesn't like and fight them.

I wipe the makeup off of my face and I hear a knock on my door. I don't respond and I see Sam open the door. I continue to wipe away makeup as I feel his presence. "Lindsey, I know you're mad. But don't ignore me like this, please" Sam says and my heart melts. I turn around and see a forming black eye and a current busted lip. "Cmon" I say and walk to the bathroom with Sam trailing behind me. "Sit on the counter" I say and he obeys. I move between his legs as I grab alcohol and Q tips. I dip the Q tips in the alcohol and bring it up to Sam's lip. I dab it on as he winces. "Shouldn't have fought" I say as I finish. "Was that him? Your ex?" Sam says looking at my eyes. "Yes" I say. "What did he do Lindsey?" Sam says seriously. "He's just an ass" I say and Sam rolls his eyes. "Liar" He mumbles. "He hurt me okay Sam? Just leave it alone." I say and I can see his jaw clench. "Then I'm glad I fought him" Sam says sternly. "You should have left bad enough alone. He threatens to tell my Volleyball coach shit to get me off the team, all the time. Jeez Sam" I say. "I'm sorry I hurt you Lindsey" Sam says. "You need to learn not to fight people" I say. He nods as he looks down at me. "I'll try, for you" he says and I try not to smile, no matter how much I want to. "Thank you" I say and he smiles. When I'm done dabbing the Q tip on his face I toss it in the garbage can. When I turn to walk out he grabs my wrist and he looks at me as I wince. He looks up at me confused and brings my arm up to his face. He sees a small bruise forming around my wrist and I can practically see the smoke coming out of his ears. "Sam it's fine it doesn't even hurt" I say looking up at him as he stares at my wrist. "It's not fine Lindsey, why are you so okay with this? Did he ever hit you?" Sam says and my heart aches. "No" I choke out and Sam's eyes go wide. He knows. "I can't believe this." Sam says and jumps down from the counter. "He fucking hit you" He says and walks out of the bathroom. Madison comes around the corner and looks at me. "I heard what he just now said, and I'm sorry he found out" Madison says. She walks over to me and wraps her arms around my back. I can feel the tears forming as she rubs my back. Just like Sam does. I pull away and she looks at me. "Are you okay?" She says. "Yes. I just need to talk to Sam" I say and she nods her head. I go to my room and I see that Sam isn't in there. I look out my window and see that his car is gone. Oh my god. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid. I pull out my phone to text him.

Sam's POV

I've been sober since the fight so I'm pretty sure that I'm fine to drive. I realize I need to not go back to that house, and kill him, no matter how bad I want to. I just can't believe something like that happened to MY Lindsey. It seems impossible, but I know she wouldn't lie about something like that. I grip the steering wheel and pull onto the road in the field by her house. I turn my car off and sit there. It's lightly raining and the sound is soothing. I'm looking at the trees in my mirror and I see somebody walking. I look closer and I see who it is. I let her walk to the car and I unlock the doors. She gets in the car and I can't tell if she's been crying or it's just the raindrops, but her raspy voice gives it away. "Sam, I know you're mad, but it's in the past. It's long gone, and I'm with you now." Lindsey says. I look up at her and I can feel the corners of my mouth moving up. "I'm sorry it happened" I say. She moves in to kiss me and I move in too. I kiss her damp, salty lips. The kiss turns into more and she's climbing over the console and straddling me. I can tell she's being careful with my lip and I kiss her even harder to make up for it. She moves her hands in my hair lightly and I bite her lip. I move my hands to her ass and I accidentally honk the horn. We both pull away and laugh and she climbs back over to the other side. She's blushing and I grin as she moves her hand to my thigh. I start the car and head back to her house. Once we get there we head inside. Madison and Cal are no where to be seen. I walk up the stairs and follow Lindsey into her room.
