When the carriage pulled up to the palace, I tried not to let my nervousness show. I had never been inside the Governor's Palace before, not even for a ball, let alone a private invitation to tea with Lady Dunmore. The carriage driver stopped in front of the palace gates and the driver got out to help my mother and I out. He walked with us to the front door.
(Hey, Lizzy, this is the historical governor's palace in colonial williamsburg...I'm sure it doesn't look like much compared to what you have in scotland but this is the best we 'murricans can do. LOL)
