*forgot the picture the first time. Whoops.
My bedside clock ticks away the quiet seconds. It's almost time for the party, but suddenly I'm not excited. I'm more nervous than anything. I look myself over in the mirror again, watching the small rhinestone embellishments on my shoes sparkle in the dim dormitory light. My dark scarlet lipstick vibrant against my pale skin as the soft curls I put at the ends of my hair brush my bare shoulders.
Tom's waiting.
I sigh and put on a gentle smile before leaving my dorm, twiddling my thumbs as I head for the common room. I peek into the emerald green room illuminated by firelight. Tom's casually pacing around the room with his hands behind his back. Occasionally pausing to look into the fire. His dress robes accentuating his tall frame.
"Tom?"
He stops his pacing to look in my direction, his head cocking to the side as I slip out into his view. A tiny smile curving the side of his mouth the closer I stepped before he reaches to pull me the rest of the way.
"You look beautiful," he purrs softly against my ear.
I blush deeply and hide my face in his neck, "Are you ready to go?"
"Only if you are."
I nod and slowly pull away from him, squeezing his hands in mine, "I am."
My face grows hotter as he chuckles, his eyes trailing down to my feet before coming back up to meet mine. His fingers brushing the hair away from my neck.
That look. I remember that intrigued look.
Tom hums and offers me his arm. A mischievous grin on his face. I shyly take it and let him lead me out to the dungeons. The torches on the wall lighting our path upstairs while simultaneously fending off the winter cold. The castle's beautiful when dimly lit and quiet. Snow dancing to the ground outside the stone walls adds to the intensity of the silence.
"Are you sure you're ready?"
I look up to meet his gaze, hugging his arm more, "what do you mean?"
His eyes waver a little bit, "we walk in there, people will know. Word will get around."
I smile and stroke his cheek, "I know it will and I'm okay with that. I figured a small group of people would be a best start."
"And Zach?"
"He'll have to deal with it."
I start walking a bit faster and lead him along with me to the classroom. Chatter and music can be heard behind the closed doors. I take Tom's arm again and hold my breath as he pushes the door open. Most of the conversations subside at the sight of us walking in, leaving the room awkwardly quiet aside from the soft classical music playing. The other partygoers beginning to whisper as they watch us.
"Tommy boy! Miss Harper! So glad you're here."
Slughorn's voice breaks the awkward silence, allowing the conversations around us to continue where they left off. I take a deep breath, hoping to calm my blushing cheeks as Professor Slughorn approaches us with a glass of champagne in his hand.
The heat returns to my cheeks as Tom wraps his arm around me, settling his hand just between my waist and hip. His voice still calm and collected, "of course, Sir. We wouldn't miss it."
"And I'll be honest. I'm quite pleasantly surprised you're attending together. Please, enjoy yourselves as much as you can tonight."
"Don't worry about us, Sir. We will."
My eyes widen a little and I look to him. The same mischievous smirk teases his lips as he holds me closer before leading me away.
"You sound like you have a plan," I blush shyly.
He leans closer to my ear, "I might. But everything depends on you."
I blush deeper but look at him quizzically, "me?"
He looks to me from the corner of his eye with a grin, wordlessly scooping up a couple glasses of champagne from a passing tray and handing one to me.
I take the glass gingerly, peering into clear but golden bubbly liquid in a slight trance. My thoughts broken as the sound of the glasses clinking together reaches my ears and I look up to see Tom bringing it to his lips. His family ring shining on his finger as he takes a swallow. My heart actually fluttering at the sight.
"Is something wrong?"
I shake my head with a bashful smile, entwining the fingers of our free hands, "No, it's just... you just look really grown up and mature when you do that..."
He looks down at the drink in his hand, swishing it around gently to watch the liquid move before looking back up into my eyes, "so, you like that?"
I hide a little behind my glass as I nod, blushing furiously. The mischief returning to his gaze and he chuckles before leading me along.
"You know what? Why don't we skip out early?"
I glance around, counting the side glances before whispering back, "I'd appreciate that actually."
With a smile, Tom leads me out the way we came; closing the door after us and we wander down the darkening hallway. My heart starting to pound the further we walk until Tom pulls me to him. The sudden contact of my bare back against the cold stone wall making me gasp as Tom holds me firmly but gently against it. His body's warm against me as his lips sink against mine. Both of us quickly running out out breath the more fervent he becomes and I can't help but run my fingers in his dark hair to keep him close.
"How much do you trust me?" He breathes against my lips.
"Very much," I breathe back, "why?"
He chuckles, "I've learned everything with you should be in small steps. Just making sure I'm going the right way."
I giggle and kiss him again, "I'm right here so you're doing something right."
He smiles wider and sets me back on my feet before pulling away, "I actually have something for you."
My eyes widen as he pulls out a black box tied in a green ribbon, "love, you didn't have to get me anything."
"I wanted to. I mean, it's the point of Christmas right?"
I nod, "Partly, but why not wait until Christmas morning?"
He sets the box in my hands, looking down a bit, "aren't you going home? I won't see you then..."
I smile bashfully, "You will. You're actually invited to come home with me. If you want to that is..."
His eyes widen, "Invited? How? Why?"
"I've told mom about you," I giggle, "she wants to meet you and make sure you're not alone this year." I tuck the box back into his hands, "I can wait. I have something for you as well."
He blushes a bit, "I don't know what to say. I've never been at a family Christmas before..."
"If it's too awkward, you don't have to. I just thought it'd be a nice change."
He nods, "No, no. I'd like to go with you."
Tom scoops me up into a hug, whispering his gratitude against my neck. I stroke his hair again, purring at the feeling of his breath on my skin as I hug back. Wordlessly, Tom starts carrying me down to the dungeons and into the common room. My eyes widening when he heads straight for the boys' dorm instead of putting me down.
"Where are we going, Tom?"
He nuzzles me, "my dormitory. There's one last thing I want to do for you."
My face grows red and I hug onto his neck. My grip tightening as the door clicks shut behind us.Tom's P.O.V.
I watch Trinity's peaceful sleeping figure beside me. Seeing her so calm as she rests in a spare pajama shirt of mine pulls at my hard heart and can't help biting my lip a bit as she stretches out and sighs in content.
If she only knew what she's doing to me.
I gently stroke through her soft auburn hair, fighting the urge to imagine the image of her red panties peeking from under the length of my shirt. I sigh deeply.
She trusts you, Tom. Don't push things too quickly.
I glance at the dorm turntable, imagining her smile as I twirled her around before we changed to settle for bed. How she pulled me close as I kissed her. Even her soft, involuntary moans when I kissed her neck.
God.
I shake my head at the memory, sliding my hand around her waist to pull her closer. A subtle hint of her perfume still lingering on her skin as I kiss her shoulder.
I sigh and pull away, settling myself behind her. I continue stroking her side as I lay awake, wondering what this week has in store for us.
"Zach's going to kill me..."
