50 Years Later.
"Baekhyun! Come on, you slowpoke!"
"Alright! Alright!"
I clapped my hands, like I always did when he was too late. "You're going to miss the fireworks!"
He came running out of the house, almost tripping in the doorway as he caught himself on the hot tub's edge. "You're the one controlling the fireworks, Y/N!"
"Yeah, so?" I snickered.
"She said she'd be making them at midnight precisely." Kyungsoo mumbled, wriggling closer to Sehun's chest under the blanket.
Jongin looked over at the two of them, pulling his own blanket down further over his chest. "You're going to tip your chair over, y'know."
"Oh, shut up." Sehun replied, looking at him. "I'll pay Y/N and Baekkie if it breaks."
Junmyeon rolled over, eyes still glued to the stars beyond the trees. "You mean you'll make me pay for it. When are you going to get a job?"
"Please, no fighting!" Baekhyun whined, settling down on the lounge chair I'd been sitting on five minutes earlier. He sat as close to the edge as possible, leaving room for me for when I'd be done.
"We're not fighting, we're discussing! And Sehun should actually get a job." Yixing and Minseok countered. They continued to bicker in the background, as I looked at my watch. The same, black watch that I'd received fifty years prior, that still ticked loyally to that day.
"It's only ten seconds left now!" I announced, raising my arms into the air. I looked towards the horizon and the valleys below us, where I could already see the other people who'd rented their own cabins waiting for midnight. For the new year.
My eyes locked on a point a couple of hundred meters away in the air, and I knew I'd found my spot. With the utmost amount of concentration, I narrowed my eyes, and started to form almost a hundred balls of light, sparks that would light the multicolored streams of fire.
"Five!" the others called, beginning the countdown as I began the execution of the fireworks. The four other words were blocked out, as I channeled more and more power to make my creations the most beautiful I could.
"Now!" I heard, and released.
Seemingly billions of bright lights exploded in the sky, some shooting up from other cabins below. Red, green, white, purple, yellow, orange, blue, every color imaginable illuminated the dark sky as the new year began.
My arms lowered themselves, and I hurried back to Baekhyun, scuttling in under the blanket to get the cold away. He smiled at me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders as he planted a deep kiss on my lips.
"Happy New Years, fetus."
"Happy New Years, old man."
We smiled at each other, almost giggling like two little girls before we kissed again. The sound of the fireworks and excited yells of the others were drowned out by a ringing sound, one I'd become accustomed to over the years.
"Happy New Years, dear."
I smiled into the kiss. "Happy New Years, mom."
"Happy New Years, Child."
"Happy New Years, Wyla."
"So, what are your goals for this year, Y/N?" Baekhyun asked, pulling me a little closer as I rested my head against his shoulder.
"To love you even more than last year." I replied, smiling. "And try to cut down on manipulating reality all the time."
"Mine are to take you out to at least one romantic date that wasn't set up by the others for me, and...probably to stop asking you to make me more ripped." He laughed, chest vibrating against mine.
"I love you, Baekhyun." I sighed, smiling as I closed my eyes.
"I love you too, Y/N. Even though I don't tell you enough."
I chuckled. "You tell me at least thrice a day. Or do you forget all those times?" I couldn't help but tease him.
Baekhyun kissed my forehead, rubbing my back soothingly. "I should tell you every second, Y/N. Every millisecond, even. So I'll work on slowing time this year, too."
"It's okay, Baek. I know you love me. But not as much as I love you, let's make that clear." I buried my face against his neck, taking in the warmth of his skin. "I have more memories with you."
He was silent for a few minutes, as the constant booms of exploding fireworks started to occur less and less. I thought he'd fallen asleep, until he asked "Don't you...want that Baekhyun back more? You know, the one who you liked first?"
I shook my head, looking up at his chin. "No, I'm content with the Baekhyun I have right here and now."
"The one you'll have forever." he added. It was meant as a joke, of course, but we both knew that it wasn't deep down. Not in reality.
I shut my eyes again, my fingers braiding themselves into his as I started to drift off to sleep. Summoning fireworks was more tiring than I thought it would be, even though it had been a tradition for over a decade.
"You know why I like being immortal so much?" he mumbled against my hair, tickling my forehead.
"...I don't think so." I replied slowly, my voice clearly getting heavier with sleepiness.
"It's because I can spend eternity with you."
It's done! My mic has been dropped. BTS is quaking.
