Johnny drove over to Kenzie's house as fast as he could and he knocked on the door. Kenzie opened the door for him and her eyes were watery, her hair was in a messy bun, she was wearing sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt. Johnny instantly pulled her into a hug.
" Kenzie are you okay?"
" no, not really."
" Do you wanna talk about it? And if you don't want to talk about it right away you don't have to"
" i think im ready to talk about it. But let's go to my room first."
"okay" The two walked to kenzie's room and sat on her bet. They turned so that they were facing each other.
" so um 2 years ago today," she started to say as her voice started to break. Johnny grabbed her hand and held it.
" my dad was in a car accident and he didn't make it."
" oh my god, im so sorry kenz." he hugs her from the side and she rests her head on her shoulder.
" this time of the year has always been rough for me." johnny kissed her the head.
" you know what, tomorrow everyone else can go to the party, ill stay with you and help you feel better and just give you company."
" johnny you don't have to do that"
" but i want to"
" you know talking about it and you being here has really helped me and i think i might go to the party tomorrow."
" are you sure?"
" yeah, being out with my friends a might be just what i need."
