a loud rumble startled me and i almost dropped the glass i was holding. i quickly peaked out the kitchen window to see a big moving van next door. i hurried into the living room to get a better look.
"max what are you doing?" mom asks
"there's a moving van in next door." i say
"really?" she asks
she gets up from her spot on the sofa and joins me at the window.
"well would you look at that." she says in surprise
"what's everyone looking at?" harvey says coming downstairs
"someone is moving in next door again." i say
"really??" he says
i nod and harvey hurries over to see. now there were three of us creepily staring out the window.
"i wonder who it is." mom says
"look someone's getting out." harvey says
we all look closer to see an older lady climbing out of the car behind the van. it must've just pulled up because it wasn't there when i looked a minute earlier.
"is that mrs. hall?" mom says
"who?" i ask
"you know mrs. hall. annalise hall?" mom says
my eyes widen and mouth drops open in shock.
"annalise hall? didn't she move here in year 2? then moved away again in like year 6 or something??" harvey says while squinting to look closer
"yes that's her." mom says
we all look out the window again when anna steps out. her hair falls down along her back, it's a light brown and she's wearing a t shirt and jeans.
"wow.." harvey says
"why don't we go say hi?" mom says stepping away from the window
i slowly shake my head
"no way." i say
"max. be a nice neighbor and let's go say hi. you guys can reconnect with anna." mom says
"mom we haven't seen her in five years." i say
"and your point is?" mom says walking into the kitchen
"it's weird!" i exclaim
"max get over yourself. we're saying hi." mom says firmly
i sigh
"why don't you wanna say hi?" harvey asks once mom is out of earshot
"don't you remember??" i say
"remember what?" harvey asks a little lost
"me and anna had like..a thing.." i say
"okay?? and your point is? max we were like 11 back then. we're 15 now." harvey says and raises his eyebrow
i roll my eyes
"whatever. you don't understand." i say and walk away
it's sort of true..he didn't exactly understand how i felt about this. me and annalise have a lot of history together. we always, always, always hung out when she first moved in. harvey had on interest in hanging out with us so we were just by ourselves together. we went on a lot of adventures, we had a lot of long conversations. i guess we were sort of mature for our age. when we were ten i gave her a rose and told her i liked her. from then on we were really inseparable. like more than before. we even had our first kisses together before she turned eleven. but then she moved away the summer of year 7 and i never spoke to her again..for a few reasons actually..
"okay boys, let's go say hi." mom says breaking my train of thought
"do we really have to??" i say
"max stop it." she says
i sigh and me and harvey follow her out the door. i stuff my hands into my pockets and keep my head down as we walk across the lawn to their house.
"sara mills, is that you??" mrs. hall exclaims
"victoria! so nice to see you again!" mom says
they hug like the usual mothers do when they see each other.
"it's been awhile." mrs. hall says
"it has. what made you decide to move back?" mom asks
"well sam got a new job back here and we just couldn't resist. and then we saw our old house for sale, we just couldn't believe it." she says
"the peters moved out a year ago so it's been for sale for awhile now." mom says
mrs. hall nods and then turns her attention to us.
"my you boys have gotten tall." she says
"he's taller though." harvey says and nudges me
i chuckle
"i'm sure you guys want to see anna, i'll go get her." mrs. hall says
i almost want to say, no it's okay. but i don't and i keep my mouth shut. i don't understand why harvey is even interested in seeing anna. he never talked to her when she was here. he was probably just doing this to make me feel uncomfortable.
a few seconds later anna steps out of the house. she smiles lightly when she sees us.
"hey..harvey..max.." she says
"hey anna, nice to see you again." harvey says and gives her a small hug
she hugs back with a confused look. even anna remembers harvey never wanted to talk to her so this was new for both of us.
anna glances at me when they let go. i could tell she was trying to read my thoughts. we could always tell what each other were thinking back then but it's sort of lost it's spark.
harvey nudges me and i manage to say something.
"hi.." i say
"hi.." she says
i didn't know if i wanted to hug her or not so instead we fist bump.
"sara do you wanna come in? the house is a mess but i would love to catch up with you." mrs. hall says reappearing
"of course." mom says
she disappears with mrs. hall leaving the three of us there alone.
"i'm sure you two have A LOT of catching up to do, so i'll leave you guys to it." harvey says and starts to walk away
"where are you going?" i ask
"i have stuff to do." he says and winks at me before hurrying off leaving me there alone with anna.
well shit.

i don't know what to do with this story so i'm like rewriting it because i didn't like the original version
