It was a north Australian crocodile. it looked as if it hadnt eaten for weeks.
Both our eyes met. It started moving towards me slowly.
My gaze shifted to what was happening behind it. There was a forest fire. I turned around and ran, ran into the river. I swam so fast, that my heart was thumping out of my chest. I could feel the croc gaining on me.
I reached the bank, got up and sprinted to the other side. For a minute I didnt care, but something within me told me to turn around.
The Fire had reached the river, the methane gas which was released with all the plastic had caught fire.
It looked as if someone had taken a match and ignited the whole river. Violent flames, as tall as a 10 story building surrounded the area. I got out of there as fast as I could.
The crocodile?
I couldnt see it anywhere, it probably burnt along with the river. All I cared about was the fact that I was still alive.
What made me run and swim so fast, was it the survival instinct?. Maybe.
That night was freezing, I had no firewood to keep me warm. My leg started going numb along with my forehead which was completely exposed to the atmosphere. I had no blanket to keep me warm . I had no water to drink . I had no food to eat.
Sound familiar? Get used to it. Cause I had to.
The only thing which kept pushing me to survive and live was the beautiful milky way. Which I could see ever so brightly.
It reminded me how pure , transparent, and fragile my life was. It gave me a sense of hope.
