One Year Later

...

" You guys ready?", Cora cautioned as she looked at Rune and Kova who were holding hands tightly bracing themselves for their first Sacrifice.

"I'm ready", Kova nodded with tentative tone to her voice.

"Cora? How many times have you performed the sacrifice?" Rune asked curiously

"Only 5 times. The trick is to not think about. You must never stop singing until the song is done." Cora insisted as she grabbed both of the young girls hands.

"Now we must begin."

Cora lead both Rune and Kova up to the surface of the water, watching her peach colored tail swish, while her dark long hair flowed behind her. The mermaids reached the surface of the blue. In front of them was a yacht with a golden engraved name that read La Esmeralda. There were about 20 people on board. They seemed like privileged college kids having a good time, drinking and laughing. The music was thumping and the Fourth of July theme could be seen from the cups in there hands to the mini flags popping out of every decoration. Banner and streamers with the grilling smell lingering through the air. Everything seemed happy to them not knowing what was about to happen. There were girls in there mid-twenties wearing revealing bikinis dancing and sun bathing of the third floor deck. A couple that consisted of a girl with flawless cocoa skin and a tall broad blond boy that were making out and snuggling while the girls giggled and laughed between them. Slightly below them on the second floor a variety of boys grilling smoking weed and drinking beer lounging in their chairs probably taking about which of the girls they would fuck tonight. All enjoying their summer and partying like young adults would normally do.

Cora made the signal to begin. When they opened their mouths a unsettling voice flowed from within their bodies. The wind careful guided the sound toward the boat. It was a deadly angelic voice that enveloped the minds of those who were tragically near to hear it.  The voice of a siren can have two side effects to human either instant death or make the person commit suicide, giving up their life willingly to the ocean. The captain of the ship fell instantly to his death with blood trickling down from his ears. One by one, the girls from the the third floor deck walked slowly to the rails of the ship and contemplated their deaths looking down the the water before throwing themselves overboard.

There is always something so fascinating about death where your basically an immortal mythical creature. the craving of eternal release you probably never have. At least not without Her permission. This  ritual stuff was all new to them. The sea swallowed every last person on the yacht. The song came to soothing an end.  A breath of relief came out Cova's mouth.

"Good. No mistakes." reassured Cova

 "Now what?" Kova asked.

"We go back to Her".
