the flowers and a fire

where ive spent year after year
on god's green earth ive solemn stood
just a girl-naught but misunderstood
in a busy, moving, crowded world
ive watched, alone, as lives unfurled
yes ive heard there might be such a place
a dark and lonely part of space
where i might belong and none too soon
