"Emma, wake up," I heard someone say as they shook me.
"Two more minutes," I mumbled.
"No, we need to start walking now if we're going to make it to the kitchen. I'm hungry.
I sighed. I really didn't want to get up. I had a long night mad the last thing I want to do is walk two miles to the soup kitchen. Even if my stomach was grumbling and growling I wouldn't want to get up. But Yue was having none of it.
She grabbed my shirt and hauled me to my feet.
"Look, I have not come this far in life just to starve. I am not going unless you're with me, so you decide whether you want to be lazy and have me throw my life away, or get off your lazy ass and eat."
"Aggh! You are such a drama queen. I'm trying to rest so I don't pass out on stage tonight."
"I know Ems, but you have to eat. You barely made it last time. This time you might not be so lucky."
I nodded and joined her at the front door. The streets were filled with cars going to work. I envied all those drivers. They got to wake up each morning in a warm bed and eat a healthy, warm breakfast. A lot of people take that for granted. I know I did. What I would give to have my old life back. Not that I have much to give.
Our walk to the kitchen was silent. Yue was tired too. I could tell by the way her head hung from her shoulders. Her head didn't perk up until we walked into the kitchen.
We got here a bit later that normal. Most of the regulars were already in line. It's going to take forever before Yue and I are served.
When we got to the front we got our food (rather slowly) and sat at the table.
"Did you see the new guys?" Yue asked.
"No," I turned around and saw the new servers. They were both boys. The one handing out the bread was about average height with light brown hair. He was oddly dressed too. I couldn't tell very well though.
The other boy was significantly taller and had blonde hair. Both of then were wearing hideous hairnets and aprons.
"They look like fools."
Yue laughed and some men turned to look at her. I couldn't blame them, she was beautiful. She was short, but thin. Her short black hair framed her face perfectly despite the lack of proper haircut. Her features were soft and delicate. Her eyes were tilted at the tip, showing that she is from Asian descent. Chinese to be exact.
"I have to be at work in an hour. Let's go," Yue said.
Yue and I got up and returned our trays. As I was walking back I bumped into someone. It was the blonde haired server.
"Crap, sorry. I wasn't looking.'' I met his eyes and stopped. They were an electrifying blue.
''Watch where your'e going!'' he snapped.
''I'm so sorry,'' I said while trying to wipe soup off his shirt.
''Whatever,'' he said and walked off.
What a douche bag.
I stalked back to Yue who was bouncing on her soles.
''C'mon, or you're going to late.''
I grabbed Yue's arm and dragged her out of the building. When did assholes start helping out in the soup kitchen?

This is my big night. I feel it. I know it. There's a big crowd, a few scouts, and Yue. I was even wearing some nice clothes I've been saving for a special occasion.
