Feral – A rogue or mateless wolf who goes mad.

Rogue – A werewolf who was once a part of a pack but was banished.

Wildling – A pup born in wolf form.

----

"Damian, come on," my sister was nagging me. She had her coming of age ceremony the day before and deemed it necessary that I take her out on a run.

I growled at a tiny pup who was going to near to the woods. He turned to look at me wide eyed. He was still shaky on his legs and a bigger wolf easily could mistakenly kill the baby.

His mother glared at me. I ignored the woman. If she wanted her pup dead she could have that.

But my conscience as an alpha took over. I took up the pup who squirmed in my hands eager to be put back down to explore the freedom he only had in wolf form,

"Your pup got too near to the tree line. Watch him," I held out the tiny thing. I hated the pity that shone in her eyes as she registered the fact that it was their poor mateless alpha holding the pup.

"Sorry Alpha," she said. I growled softly as her mate came to stand behind her wrapping his arms around her waist.

He quickly dropped his arms looking at me apologetically. I huffed and walked back to my fourteen year old sister who was throwing a fit as I took my precious time.

"Hurry idiot," she hissed pulling my hand. I glared at her the entire time wishing she didn't have to hold my arm. We stopped at the clearing where I allowed her, her privacy to shift. I shifted along with her emerging to keep an eye out while she was vulnerable.

She had only recently come of age and had to get used to shifting into her grown up wolf.

'Okay slow poke lets run,' she said through mind link. I growled snapping at her tail. She let out a strange high pitched sound before running off. I sighed making sure to keep up with her.

We ran for quite some time before she became tired. I led her to a small stream where we drank water then sat down for a nap. I had only closed my eyes for a second but when I woke up she was gone.

I sprang to my feet and growled. I looked up in time to see an unfamiliar, small, brown blur dart away into the forest across the river.

'Ria! What the hell were you thinking?' I growled.

'You scared him,' I could imagine her human face pouting.

'Ria, come back over to this side. Now.' I commanded.

'Finee. It's not like I went that far anyway' she grumbled

I reached out to Finn in my mind and sighed when i realised he would be with his mate.

'Come get my sister from the stream. I just spotted a wildling. He's alone and I'm worried.'

'A what?' he said surprised 'I've never seen one. Malichai- uh I mean can I come see it?'

'Him or her. The wildling is a were just like us. He or she, isn't an it,' I corrected not sure why I was so worked up about it in the first place.

'Oh okay,' he paused I knew he was talking to his mate when he mistook and let his emotions show through the link. 'But can I see him or her?' he went on.

'Just come and get my sister beta,' I growled.

'Yeah, okay.'

'Stay here please,' I said to my sister not wanting to lose the wildling who's sent was already faint.

'Okay, okay,' she huffed.

'I love you' I said before trotting away the direction the wildling went.

----

I was going for a while before I noticed I was going uphill. I was nearing the mountains that overlooked our pack's territory. I growled to myself I could smell the rogue who lingered just outside the pack's territory on the other side of the mountains.

As I followed the trail my wolf became more and more impatient. I struggled to stop him from taking control. I was glad when we finally got to a cave. I could smell the wildling all over the place and my wolf was content to bask in the smell.

I could tell he was not nearby so I sat outside the entrance to wait for his return. I had to talk to him either way. He was in fact on my territory, alone. Wildlings were never alone. The had tiny sub-packs.

I was starting to dose off when I saw the small wolf emerging from the brush nearby. He froze as did I because the moment he stepped through the brush and our eyes connected I knew.

'Mate' I growled through our new link. He blinked twice before baring his neck to me.

'No, don't do that,' I said quietly moving a bit closer to him. He looked at me puzzled before taking a step back. 'Please don't run, I'm your mate I will take care of you,' I took another step towards him.

I moved slowly until I was right next to him my heart was beating hard in my chest but instincts over rided the fear.

He sat on his haunches eyeing me carefully. I circled around him rubbing my scent on his and allowing his to rub on me, no matter how many images flashed across my mind. Once my instincts were sated I lay down next to him.

I heard a quiet rustle then watched him walk to his cave. He looked back waiting for me to follow him so I did.

His cave was a bit small but seemed nice. I noticed a small nest in the corner and growled. He turned to look at me with a startled expression.

'You have pups?' I bit out.

'That is where I woke up,' his voice suddenly invaded my mind.

'Woke up?'

'I guess I was born here,' he said curling up on the nest.

'You're going to sleep?'

'Is it not the time of sleep?' He asked puzzled.

'Yes but... don't you want to come with me?'

'No,' he answered so plainly it shocked me.

'Why? Why not? Is there a problem?'

'You're not wild you are civil. I am not civil.'

'So, you don't want to be with me?'

'I- I don't know,' he sounded torn.

'Okay... um I will stay here tonight and tomorrow you can come to my house... cave, and if you hate it there we- we will work something out.'

He nodded eyes drooping closed. I moved my body to curl around him. He moved closer to me allowing his scent to surround me completely.

I had no idea simply sleeping with one's mate could be so amazing.
